If winning 1 national championship and 3 conference titles are the standard to be paid $7.5 million a year give Dabo the same. Wait a minute. He already makes about that. Give Urban $22.5. He has 3 nattys. Saban. 5 nattys so he gets $37.5 per year. Too much you say. Who has been more productive in his job, Saban or Roger Goodell? Goodell gets $44 million a year. He has pissed off the players, the coaches and the fans. And most importantly some of the owners who are his bosses.

 

So if he stinks it up you think they’ll stroke that check a few years in?

 

10 years guaranteed? That’s kind of a sticking point with me. If he has 3 mediocre seasons they still owe $50M. They’re going to pay that and another $75M for the next coach. I’m sure they can afford $100M, but I doubt LSU or many other schools can. We’re getting close to critical mass and the Yankees. At that point football won’t be fun anymore.

Jimbo basically had 50 million guaranteed at FSU on his current deal with them. Guess it isn't current now. The buyout was relatively cheap, max of 5 million I believe.

So aTm had to exceed 50 million guaranteed by a good bit just to start talks. . Throw in him having to move his special needs kid and leave a program he won a title with and it makes sense as much as 75 million guaranteed can. And both states are state tax free so that didn't matter.
