Its more like the consistency of chili than soup. At least mine is. Typically I just take the chips and dip them in it like salsa rather than breaking them up into it. I also sprinkle some shredded cheese and hook myself up with some sour cream as well. The cheese makes it a lot thicker. I would add a cup of water to it as well but my crock pot is typically full to the top at that point.
This stuff is great. My family has eaten this as our traditional Christmas Eve get together meal for the last 10 years or so. We just multiply everything by 10 and add 1 large bottle of Tums, and some aerosol air freshener for the wonderful smells that are emitted thanks to the multiple types of beans mixed together.
Not that I disagree with you bean count, thing is this is a recipe in quantity yielding about 3 gallons of snack BUT, you simply hate food in general or you are just critical of everything placed in front of you. Even if you like it you yuk at it because of the fat ass syndrom which leaves very little to the imagination. Case in point you eat a peanut butter sandwich every day for school. Does that mean EVERYDAY? How was the B-Day party? Cocktail or two?
yum. i love avacado. i might go just for the avacado part alone. a great snack. avacado slices with hot sauce on em.
FWIW, I love food--too much, actually. But I AM a picky eater. Yes, EVERY day, I eat a peanut butter sandwich. I only vary it with either an orange, grapes, or an apple. School cafeterias are calorie machines, and in my 12 years at my current school, I haven't eaten there even one time. The peanut butter sandwich is easy, cheap, and I don't have to think about it.
Now that is discipline, which is great because really, peanut butter is bout the same as a cup of coffee in terms of energy. When I was in the Army hauling a lot of trash on my back I carried a jar of peanut butter for just that. Opposite of picky eater is gluttony which is me. The better the sauce the more I want! Adding beer to that only intensifies the need. My body is a dump truck and some day the service engine light will come on. Till then I will just be grateful it won't happen in front of 20 something kids!
Made this last night for the game. It was gooood. I sauteed onion and garlic with the ground meat and used chicken broth instead of water. Other than that I followed the recipe. It's even better reheated.
