To answer your question Cali...my wife makes soo much sweet tea here, we have a tea maker. I grew up being the tea maker in my house as a child, and I had to boil water on the stove and do it that old fashioned way.

Walmart.com: MR. COFFEE iced tea maker: Appliances

Sorry for the walmart reference. This was the best $20 I have ever spent...well...it probably ranks up at the top.

With this thing, I use 3 family sized Lipton tea bags. After it does its little brew cycle, I add 1 cup of sugar to the hot freshly brewed concentrated tea. After stirring that, I then add enough cold water to make 1 gallon of tea.

Sweet tea is the main drink in our house. I usually make it, a gallon a day. We always have almost two pitchers in the fridge, and a waiting pot of tea ready on the stove. We make it based on the following, which was handed down from my wife's great aunt in McComb Mississippi.

Almost fill a 4 quart magnalite pot with water, drop in 1 Lipton family size teabag. High heat on the stovetop until it boils for a few minutes. Turn off fire, scoop bag out, and add 2 full cups of sugar. Stir for a minute. You MUST let the pot sit for a day before you put it in a pitcher and into the fridge. Fresh pitcher goes to the back, slide the waiting pitcher to the front for use. Although I grew up adding lemon to iced tea, I add nothing. We get rave reviews on our tea.

The BEST sweet tea I've ever had was at a Pal's restaurant. It's a localized chain in upper east Tennessee. SO worth the trip.
