You missed the point entirely. aOSU has intentionally scheduled c-cakes that have no hope of being ranked or considered quality wins. Kent St and Akron currently have the #79 and #111th ranked Offenses in the country. Virginia is ranked 101 right behind VaTech! On Defense, Kent St. is #61 and Akron is at #76. Virginia actually has the 17th ranked D right now. They finished the season at 9-3 and nearly beat VaTech.

Why no stats for Youngstown? Oh yeah, they play Div1-AA. And aOSU scheduled them at home again next year for an opener to be followed by another home game against Ohio. Shew, don't strain yourselves now.

USC's SOS took a hit when Nebraska and ND had terrible years but both were unexpected turnouts. I'd rather schedule them and have them suck than claim fake pride over scheduling a AA team and chance losing.....ask Michigan how that worked for them this season. And what are the chances that Akron and Kent State will be vying for a top spot anytime soon?

Oh, and since travel isn't a consideration, congrats on playing only 5 away games this year and next while USC maintains a 6-6 schedule every year.

Did you watch the games this season, or just read about them in the paper?
You seem to discount the rugged season the Tigers have had. The team is pretty dinged at this time, because of the quality of the schedule, and Dorsey is nowhere near where he was before the chop-block. Lets see what happens once the team's health is restored.

    Ma'am,

Not looking to pick arguments as I'm a visitor.

Kent State was a replacement for Syracuse who was scheduled when they were much better and backed out. Washington was also scheduled when they were a traditionally ranked team. Like USC with Notre Lame and Nebraska it's not Ohio State's fault that these program have fallen on hard times since they were scheduled. Ohio State has upcoming home and homes with USC, Miami (hope they get better), VA Tech and Oklahoma. In the past they've played USC, UCLA, Washington, Washington State, Texas, Oklahoma, NC State (with Phillip Rivers), Miami and other traditional powers. They do not have a history of ducking tough OOC games. I'm looking at this year as an anamoly. Again, like USC, it's not the fault of Ohio State that the rest of the conference is not as strong as advertised.

Ohio State is mandated by law to schedule one Ohio team a year. It was Akron's turn in the rotation.

There is no excuse for YSU. I have no idea why they were scheduled and as a season ticket holder I still believe that I should have payed less for the tickets to that glorified scrimmage.

Still, despite all this, Ohio State had a stronger SOS than USC. The next two Septembers I believe we'll be treated to some damned fine football from both teams.

    Peace.

I don't know how anybody could hate OSU or LSU.

In the 90's, OSU was only ranked #1 in a poll during the early part of the 1998 seasom. In the 2000's, the first time OSU was #1 in the polls was when they upset Miami in the 2002 NC. Even after that, they wouldn't be ranked #1 until the beginning of 2006. They stayed at #1 the whole season last year until they lost to Florida in the NC. Had Ohio State not had any quality opponents during the regular season last year, I might have hated them, but they played two of the best teams in college football during the regular season last year -- Texas (Big 12) and Michigan (Big Ten), and beat both of them. As for this year, OSU has only spent five weeks at #1.

As for LSU, they haven't been ranked #1 during the regular season since the late 50's. Sure, we won a share of the #1 spot by beating Oklahoma in the BCS NC at the end of the 2003 season, but even after that, we wouldn't be ranked #1 until this year. And we only spent four weeks at #1 this year.

The teams that people hate are those teams like the '04 and '05 USC teams that were ranked #1 every single week of both years. Or the '01 and '02 Miami teams that were ranked #1 every single week of both years. I mean that what made the 2002 NC game so great, because OSU finally ended Miami's two-year #1 streak. And that's what made the 2005 NC game so great, because Texas finally ended USC's two-year #1 streak.

I'm a visitor too, no problems there. :yelwink2:

Ohio State is mandated by law? That is the Bucknuttiest thing I've ever heard. Is that anything like a sailor's turn in the barrel? :hihi:

I'd ask for a refund on YS as well and I'll be darn angry if San Jose St. remains on USC's schedule a few year's from now. Funny, as fans, we were hoping to replace Hawaii before this season started.

Until SOS includes a measure for Home/Away AND a penalty for Div1AA, I have a hard time taking it seriously. But them's the rules for now.

As for our upcoming games...........it's ON and both fan bases are in for a treat. :thumb:

So hate is okay as long as it's been a long time brewing?

I still maintain that the "hatred" between LSU and USC fans was nearly ALL media manufactured. We have only gone head to head 2x EVER and it only really started from the 2003 NC. Fans from both sides bought into the story line being served up from every significant media outlet. If you really think about it, the two programs have much more in common than not.

The best outcome for football and for fans is to create an ongoing rivalry that is built on mutual respect and not unfounded hatred.

Yep, have to schedule one Ohio school a year minimum. It's a big payday for the other schools in state.

Amen. That's the way it's supposed to be. Growing up in Texas with an Aggie for a Dad, I learned good sportsmanship at the butt end of a million or more Aggie jokes. Of course, those Aggies were pretty good at dishing out trash on the Teasippers, too.

But it was all in good fun, as it should be.

I wish we could get a USC / LSU game scheduled some day before we're all too old to watch it!
