Bush was selected as President by the Supreme Court? Wow...I thought it was because some people were too stupid to punch a simple ballot. Once again...why take personal responsibility when you can just blame your shortcomings on someone else. :nope: I just wish they would count the military votes.
What the hell does the supreme court and Bush, have to do with personal responsibility of shortcomings. You dont know any of my shortcomings and it has nothing to do with this thread or Bush and the Supreme court. My post was pertaning to the condition of this country after the last 8 years. Im not blaming anyone for anything, Im doing quite well actually. Maybe you should stop fantasizing about me.
Yeap and Bush is the greatest President that has ever lived. You got anymore punchlines this morning, if so. Spare me.
After reading a good bit more about Sotomayor I really dont see a big deal with this women. She is less controversial to the right then Alito was to the left. The overall leaning of the court does not change because of who she's replacing. She should be confirmed with the kind of majority Roberts received. which is considered a slam dunk home run by today's partisan standards.
I don't really know much about her and don't care too. She will be confirmed I'm sure. The only issue I have is that sex and race used to guide the selection process and now it seems like it defines it. When the space opened up, the media reported that a Hispanic would be selected and it would most likely be a woman. Now I know we need diversity on the court. I absolutely agree with that because we need differing backgrounds and points of view. A court of nine middle age to older white males who grew up in the suburbs should not be the makeup of the highest court. However, I wonder if we've gone to far in the other direction. Do we put to much emphasis on race and sex and not enough emphasis on qualifications?
maybe you should look at her qualifications, she has more judicial experience than Alito or Roberts had. And if you agree that we need more diversification on the court, how have we gone to far? You still have 6 white men, 1 alleged black, 1 white woman and now 1 hispanic women(if confirmed) White men=66% Black men=11% Women(Possibly)=22% (half of the country are women) Hispanic=11%
