It'll be interesting in seeing which schools go where. Notre Dame may be forced into joining a conference...the Big 10 being the one that makes most sense. Then they would have to add another team for balance, which could be Missouri. From a regional perspective, it seems kind of ridiculous to consider Oklahoma and Texas schools as Pacific Coast schools, but it looks like it's going to happen.
The sec doesn't need to add more schools. If they have to add ATM then add one more from the east like wvu or unc. We don't want our tradition watered down just because the pus -12 or whatever did this or that.
maybe not right now, but the SEC needs to be proactive and look at the schools they would be interested in with 4 potential superconferences with 16 teams.
I guess times will change and it would be better to have the pick of the crop than the cast offs. My problem with ou was before the fl state game they had played a very weak schedule but were #1 without any question. Bama had beat a 20 something ranked team and lsu beat #3 but ou was still #1. Envy I guess.
Very interesting. It could look something like this: Southwest LSU Arkansas TCU aTM Southeast Alabama Auburn Florida South Carolina Northwest Ole Miss Miss. State Tennessee Georgia Northeast WVU Kentucky Vandy Louisville Play division teams every year, rotate two non-division opponents every year for nine conference games.
The TCU situation will be interesting. YOu know they aren't happy they committed to the Big East, with the Big East crumbling as we speak.
Red did have a point. While we do want to have a quality conference, we already risk knocking each other out of the race every year. I understand that the nation knowing we have the strongest conference is what gets the sec champ in the big show. I also have my doubts that any sec west team could survive without multiple losses if Texas ,ou and ou state moved to the sec. It's a double edged sword. Things are for sure now, the east is weaker than the west. New alignment would have to take that into consideration. To have bama, lsu , au , ark and an up and coming state is a damn tough divison. ( sorry col reb). We must not take in tam in the west and let the east get by with the likes of USF or north Carolina state. With the problems between au and the gumps not knowing how to act, they should be split. That would keep both Alabama teams from knocking each other out. I say the same for the two Mississippi schools. That's just my opinion. These schools may want to play each other every year instead of fighting to meet each other in the sec champ game. I think if not fl state (1st choice) or Virginia tech(2nd choice) then either unc or wvu.
Northeast WVU Kentucky Vandy Louisville Man that is one pathetic division. Would be pretty good in Basketball maybe.
You do realize that if we go to a super-conference playoff system, this puts LSU in a really bad spot for winning another National Championship right? It also makes USC and Ohio State that much more powerful. They dont have to navigate the SEC year in and year out and still get a straight shot to the four team playoff. I dont like this at all
