I think I should have the final say in it. Everyone should defer to my decision. No need for the BCS or playoffs, just ask me at the end of the season.
bcs in 1 word: Playoff all you need is a 16 team playoff if 1-AA and the rest of the NCAA divisions can do it, then why not big time college football. let the rest of the bowls be for the teams not in the playoff's. That be like the NIT. and dont' give me that it wouldn't work it would because it takes about a month from the last game for the bowl game to be played and that is too much time.
I disagree. I'd rather have the previous situation, if it means all the crap we now have when no more than one team runs the table during the regular season! The B(C)S ONLY works when TWO major college teams go undefeated through the regular season (and a conference championship game, if applicable - and that "if applicable" is another story for another thread!). With the growing parity in college football, coupled with the reallignment of major conferences (read: ACC), it will be increasingly difficult for any team to go undefeated. Therefore, we are less likely to see situations in which there are two undefeated teams in future years, IMO. Ergo, there will just be more BCS MESS! Our current system of determining which team with one loss among several should be the one to challenge an undefeated team is SUBJECTIVE BULLSH!T!!! My wish every year is that no team goes undefeated (except LSU, of course!). Let there be controversy galore and, perhaps, that will get us closer to a much-needed playoff system of some sort. Having a system that is constructed on the hope that two (and only two) teams go undefeated is stupid and ridiculous!!! I say, if they're not going to have a playoff then have a system designed under which if two teams from major conferences go undefeated then those two play. If that is not the case, then the "old" system goes into affect. We wouldn't need computer "polls," SOS analyses, "quality" win deductions, or any of that crap - which is just that - TOTAL CRAP. This year, as soon as Miami lost to Va Tech, the "BCS" would be thrown out the window (sorry TCU, you don't count. Join a major conference if you want a chance for an invitation to the party). Let the bowls then do their selecting as they did prior to the B(C)S. Oklahoma (assuming they win out) could go play in the Orange Bowl against whatever team the Orange Bowl would see fit to invite. No poll voter would then be obligated to vote for the winner of that game as national champions. We could presently, of course, have two undefeated teams from the SAME conference since some don't all play each other or allow for a conference championship game to decide it. This, in itself, is absurd and needs to be fixed! The "BCS only for two undefeateds" plan above would allow us to avoid the situation that occurred in 1997 that Mobile Bengal didn't like and would also do away with the chance for another utterly ridiculous scenario like we had a couple of years ago in which a team (Nebraska) that DOESN'T EVEN WIN ITS OWN FRIGGIN' CONFERENCE, plays in a "championship" game and the winner of that game receives the Sears trophy (or whatever it is now) and recognition as MNCs, by default. Yes, I hate the BCS system. I always have, and I am hating it even MORE this season!!!!!!!!!! :geaux:
I know they had good intentions when they took out margin of victory from the BCS formula, but I believe it needs to be in there.
