Sugar Farmers hope for help from Congress

    one thing i forgot to think of in this debate is that all these US farm subsidies have made corn so artificially cheap that food makers use way too much high fructose corn syrup and contribute to the obesity epidemic. so indirectly, farm subsidies are killing us. HFCS is bad for us, more than ordinary sugars, but because the government subsidizes the crap out of the corn industry, it is economical to use in food, and that is killing us.

    another unintended consequence of manipulating the industry. under the guise of protecting us, big government almost always hurts us.

    And free trade never does. Since it doesn't always come across on the internet I am not being sarcastic.
