I can certainly understand this view, and partially agree. I guess the key is keeping manufacturing out of the Middle East! :hihi:
while you're at it, brush up on the declaration of independence as well. the part about king george of cutting off foreing trade (the right to export). you seek to do the same, only you want to deprive our country of the domestic market for our goods, which is even more detrimental.
That is truly news to me. I can't for the life me recall advocating getting rid of a domestic market for goods. So it's life, liberty, pursuit of happiness, and employment? How interesting.
actually, it's the fundamental elements that make up those three. so, i'd say the means to sustain life as well; i.e. the right to employment to obtain food, shelter and other basic needs required for survival. many people's problem is they forget we are guaranteed certain basic rights first and foremost. obviously, that is a concept that is beyond you.
In case anyone doesn't know yet, CAFTA did pass the House last night and will become law as soon as Bush signs it. The vote was close, 217-215. The 7 Louisiana Representatives were split, 4-3. Jindal voted against it.
We're not guaranteed a job any more than we have the right to free medicine, free healthcare, good service at the airlines........I want the basic right for NASA to fly me into space. Or free sporting events for life......
All of those are in one version of the Constitution. That's the one I'm trying to get my hands on now.
we are guaranteed that neither the gov't. nor anyone else will be allowed to deprive us of the right to the fundamental elements required to sustain our lives. that means the opportunity to work and provide for ourselves and our family. if we are left with only service industries in this country, that is exactly what will occur, because there will not be enough jobs available to fulfill this need. and, on a side note, you appear to have a difficult time defining wants vs. needs. once you get that figured out, try again.
I wish people would stop crying about foreigners taking their jobs. I see a lot of Mexicans cleaning Wal-Mart, but I have never once seen one jump out from behind a bush and hold an American up at knife point and take his job. I agree people have a right to work and earn a living. I also beleive if you have a crappy job that someone is willing to do cheaper than you then you should find another job. The government does not stop people from bettering themselves and finding better employment.
