Agreed, If the Bush administration is guilty of anything it is they don't have
the spin machine the Clinton administration did.
The Bush administration doesn't have a clue on handling a crisis PR wise.
the Bush administration would've been wise to hire Dick Morris or someone
that could've spun things the way the previous administration did!

And allowing your political rivals to ask you questions under oath is criminally stupid. Especially about firing someone legally.

    "What's there to hide?"

You rightwingers pull that one when the issue of wiretapping American citizens without warrents comes up.

There are 9 Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee. 9/20. It's not a bunch of Democrats on a witch hunt.

This is Congress and both parties are represented. Justice Department officials have no choice but to testfy. Executive privilege applies only to the Executive.

The 5th can be taken only to prevent one from incriminating herself in a crime. Us of it simply to avoid embarrassing testimony constitutes contempt of Congress and is quite illegal.

Gonzalez played politics within the Justice department, which is supposed to be about justice and above politics. But they got caught. Everything is going to come out now and that is the way the system is supposed to work.

Everyone has acknowledged that it was legal for the Justice Dept to fire these guys. So what exactly are we investigating?

I'm not a rightwinger, and I think wiretapping American citizens without a warrant is wrong. Alberto Gonzalez is a piece of garbage to me. My concern is the Constitution and how this issue is trying to move the line on Seperation of Powers.

If no crime was commited by firing these Attorneys, which is something all parties agree on, then explain how this is not a witchhunt?

The Justice Department, of the Executive Branch, tried to subvert the checks and balances provided by our Constitution. They wanted to put in Bush puppet attorneys who would "play ball," prosecute Democrats, and sweep Republican mis-dealings under the rug. To top it all off they wanted to do it without Congrssional hearings.

Why can't neo-con apologists see this administration is overstepping itself and circumventing the Constitution for political gain?

The law allows for the removal of U.S. attorneys for any reason without the approval of Congress.

    Check your facts...

Pretty much what LSUsupafan said. If both sides "agree" that no crime was committed...why does this guy feel the need to plead the 5th?
