i could care less if they were hired and fired and a new bunch brought in 6 months later but it is fun to watch "situational ethics" before my very eyes. c'mon folks, clinton fired 93, bush fired 8, the next prez will fire some and so will the next. call it what it is and don't use the auburn referee guide to creative calls to do so.

So you are telling me Bush didn't replace the Clinton appointees in 2000?

I'd be mad if I was still trying to defend these clowns, too.

I still love the 'But Clinton did it!' bit. It's safe to assume that anyone who would use that argument didn't like Clinton. So, then, they'd be putting Bush on the same level as Bill. Doesn't seem like a very wise defense. But I guess the options are rather limited.

The Bush administration is every bit as scandalous as Clinton's. But people can rationalize anything if they think they have the moral high ground.

no, i'm saying each one of them replaces the previous one's appointees. just good ol' boy politics at it's best. i'm not saying it's right or wrong. what i am saying is that no matter which side of the aisle you sit on it is politically motivated and should be described as such. my only argument in this is that in 93 it was business as usual and in 07 it's the latest example of a nazi regime.

You are completely missing the big distinction. A president appointing new prosecutors when taking office is the normal practice. That is why no one complained when Bush did this in 2000. Firing prosecutors during a presidential term is very rare. It has happened 3 or 4 times in the last 30 years. Your efforts at spin are laughable.

I think what is worse than the actual firings is that this can be done without Congressional oversight.

When you exclude firings due to a change in administration, Clinton had two US Attorneys resign under pressure -- one because he grabbed a TV reporter by the throat on camera, and the second having been accused of biting a topless dancer.:
