We're all fairly familiar with martin's reputation around here and I would by no means classify him as the most immature poster on the board. Now, if you had said what souper said, I would've given you more credit, since you're a regular. Maybe I'm just not keen on somebody who rarely posts coming out of the woodwork like that and criticizing another member.
I agree, martin is in no way the most immature poster on this board, I have grown to have a sense of respect for martin because he will not back down or crawfish from any statement made. And after the 05 Tenn game I think it is well known where my feelings lie when it comes to the people that have been registered for a years time but have fewer then a expected level of post. Especially when it comes to the actions/thoughts/opinions of a fellow and respected poster!
I was wondering the same thing... I could be wrong but when It started to rain harder...as a lot of fans left and went under by the concessions, the students DID NOT...at the end of the day, I think that shows some dedication.
I personally thoroughly enjoyed the "You suck, Cocks!" chant and was rather dissapointed when the band stopped playing that song, even though I see why they did. Now the F U Spurrier chant was different and I wasn't a big fan of that, although it wasn't as someone else said about Spurrier being overrated or anything, it was in response to Spurrier challenging the spot of the ball on the second 4th down try when it was clearly not going to be a first down. I just want to make sure I have this right: @$$holes - perfectly acceptable Kick your @$$ - acceptable Geaux to hell Ole Piss - acceptable bull crap after a penalty on LSU - acceptable Chanting You suck, Cocks against the Gamecocks - not acceptable
I know all the students around me loved the rain and started cheering even harder. Even though both the east and west sides of the stadium were deserted.
I saw no problem with the "You suck, cocks." If LSU really saw a problem with everyone saying "Cocks," they wouldn't have sold a "BEAT THE COCKS" shirt in the LSU BOOKSTORE. Don't bring your kids into the LSU Union because you might see LSU selling a shirt that says cock.
I thought it was hilarious as well. People didn't start doing it right off the bat, it took a lil while for the rest of the student section to catch on to it. Personally I love the student section, i know i am biased but during the game there were some vendors going around, and one just happened to have a red shirt, before you knew it the students all started yelling "Tigah bait! Tigah Bait!" at him but then afterwards realized he was just an innocent LSU vendor. Everyone started cracking up. It's not all bad in there... And yes when it started pouring, most students stayed and cheered the rain on. Where was everyone else?
I agree with that. kids these days definitely do not know where to draw the line. I don't agree with how people are trying to correct it. The band not playing songs will not make it any better; pretty soon they will realize if they keep this up we will not have a need for a marching band. Not playing songs is something you would do to a 6 year old child, and it would work. But these are college kids, it'll be one more excuse for them to curse more.
