Fried, your original post to start this thread was right on target. Nothing I can say can amplify your statement. Thanks for taking time to post your opinion. I feel certain that more folks agree with your sentiment.

It seems to be the duty of every generation to find something that completely outrages the previous generation. In my time it was Woodstock, Free Love ( which was a pretty groovy thing!) and long(ish) hair.

Today it seems that crude behavior in public is the best the current generation can come up with......

Nice to know we're leaving LSU in such capable hands and to such brilliant young minds.:eek:ldskule:

I totally agree with you on the conformist pressure to participate in ritual behavior.

And that goes for wearing a yellow tee shirt or chiming in on the f-U- cheer. We need a few more free agents in that section.

Maybe you should re-read my post before you decide to jump down my throat. I only pointed one flaw in his statement which was that it was "a neccesity" to chant you suck cocks. The rest of my post was directed at the student section. The immaturity part was a poke at him in jest. Maybe you missed the laughing smiley at the end of my post. Reading comprehension FTW. I may not post often but I am always on here reading. I just choose not to post often not that it matter either way.

Darn, you'd think those students actually believe football games are played BY students FOR the students!! I hate for them to find out it's really for a bunch old farts who have forgotten what's its like to be a STUDENT AT THEIR OWN SCHOOL watching the game after consuming some alcohol. In fact, I am suspicious of some posters who claim to be current or former students--they just don't sound like fellow LSU students from years gone by. If we were a Divinity School, perhaps I could believe some of these sanctimonious posts! And, really, students watching their own team play is a privilege? THEY ARE THE STUDENTS, NOT YOU. Non-students should shut up and let the students be young and stupid. Also,Those claiming to be graduates should try to use a dictionary since this posting doesn't have spell check--it doesn't speak well of our English programs when words are so badly misspelled.

Thank you, KCAL---once in a great while a phrase can cut to the heart of the matter. Students' jobs are to be young and stupid. That's just part of the process of growing up, don't you know.

No, this was the best comment in this thread yet. i agree that the FSS was out of line, and taking it too far. But thats it. you suck cocks was in no way going too far. like i said before, tradition is awsome, but it gets boring. Let the student section have a little fun poking at the fact that they want to call themselves "the cocks".

If we (the student section) want to be "young and stupid", let us. Im 20 years old. Im supposed to be a poor college student. Am i supposed to be the most responsible person in the stadium? No. Im supposed to get an education and while im there.... get drunk, be young and act stupid.

I am also SOO tired of hearing everyone on here talking about "my generation" and what yall have to look foward to leading this country. See above paragraph. I feel sorry for the kids in college that dont get drunk, and be stupid, and scream YOU SUCK COCKS because they think it's morally wrong or something. I guess we are just such bad asses.:angryfire :angryfire :angryfire

Well, there's always Louisiana College for those scholars who like to follow Mommie and Daddy's instructions about only going to class and TO STAY AWAY FROM THOSE WHO WOULD LEAD YOU ASTRAY AT FOOTBALL GAMES OR OTHER PLACES THOSE ROWDIES HANG OUT.

Oh, you say many of those rowdies in the student sections chanting obscenities will be doctors, attorneys, and business leaders in the future as have those from the past who have done the same? Yes, they had their young and stupid weekends, also. Sometimes, they just forget the past.

    1. That was beautiful.

    2. I miss college. I remember opinion pieces written in my school paper (U. of Dayton) about the rowdy "misbehavior" going on in the student section of basketball games. It made us want to top ourselves and make the grownups or other students who thought they were above it all even angrier.

    3. Please throw some apostrophes in there. Im becomes I'm.
