The way I see it, there are 3 fairly lousy candidates so now I have to select one that is the least lousy IMO.

I am neither a registered pub or dem. I have read the full platforms of the candidates and am confident I know the level of comfort I have with each one and their stated policies/intentions. Obama couldn't be further away from where I see things. Hillary is a distant second. Obama wants to increase the capital gains tax which historically have proven to show a revenue increase when they are lowered. Obama is firmly entrenched with the labor unions in this country. They are in large part what has driven service jobs overseas. He is in favor of DL's for illegals. The plan for dealing with illegals has no teeth. We have had no success in convincing Fox that it's wrong for his people to keep crossing the border and that's not about to change by putting more money into their development coffers. His healthcare plan is chock full of enthusiasm (and a bunch of useless crap too) and no way to pay for it. At least Hillary was bold enough (or dumb enough) to lay out exactly how she would pay for her healthcare plan. Obama has the least foreign policy experience and his comment last December about completely eliminating imports from China was a glimpse into that inexperience.

Before the media ripped Obama's comments about "God and guns" I was stunned at his apparent dismissal of a huge part of the population. I am disappointed at his constant suggestion to Hillary that she drop out. I doubt he would do the same if the tables were turned. What team walks off the field before the game is over?

FWIW, I agree with your premise of not getting a promotion for subpar work simply based on seniority. It's one reason I don't like labor unions.

I don't expect anyone is going to change their mind based on what is stated here. It's all just opinion. Barack may be the next POTUS but it won't be as a result of my vote.

I think you suffer from a lack of information on this, he has never once said that she needs to drop out, he said himself which was quoted that she should keep running. His planning for general election is just a result of his lead, not anything egotistical or sexist. Now if you take that as a suggestion that he thinks she should drop out then here is the other side of the coin, since you presented it, if she was leading and he was still running, i think she would be planning a general election strategy as well since we are speculating. She lost on the merits and the rules and her choice of people to run her campaign. This isnt sports where you can claim referee interference, the choice is always with the voters, except in the 2000 election when supreme court appointed GW to the post.

Also, your misconception that i am pushing Obama on you, which I havent once said in this thread. My advocacy in this thread is for a democrat and to not have another for years of a republican presidency. Lets be clear on that before we go forward and you respond to me again with the downside of Obama.
We could debate economic and tax policies all day, neither one of us will come out on top of that debate, because of our own perspectives.

I actually think there are three fairly capable candidates and the question is who is most likely to develop into an effective national leader and an international statesman.

I didn't say that and I don't think that. He has made several comments that were indicative that she should give up. The word "suggestion" is vastly different than "statement". His campaign folks have also made similar comments in interviews. It's not singly his issue though. Much of the Democratic Party have done the same thing.

I don't disagree. What I said was I don't think he would drop out if someone on the other side suggested it.
Except she hasn't lost yet. That's the point. I think she should stay in until the convention. It's still close enough to give her hope.

Where did I say that? In an obviously very poor way I merely tried to say that the back and forth wasn't going to change anyone's opinion and that's okay.
I don't vote for a party or any party line.
That's just it. I don't see it as a downside, just HIS side and I don't agree with it. The things I mentioned are of importance/significance for ME as a voter and I completely recognize that plenty of other people may see it as exactly opposite.
I wasn't looking to come out on top. In attempting to explain WHY Obama doesn't work for me, I provided examples of things that I think are significant.

    Peace.

I just dont agree with that, yea alot of the people in the DNC party has suggested that and they are wrong. But if you think its close enough to give her hope, I guess I should look at the math closer.

Not voting a party line is a great way to ride the fence ( just kidding) I have voted for republican candidates before myself.:D

Didn't say that. I said the Liberal worldview doesn't do well outside of the priveledged, urban and university environment. Check a county by county party affiliation map and you'll see what I'm talking about. There are exceptions, of course. As a generality, however, my comment is correct.

Don't confuse my confidence with self-righteousness. Just because I'm confident in a viewpoint you don't share, it does not follow that I don't acknowledge and appreciate your viewpoint. I just don't think you're correct (about this).

Who's hyping me? I have no idea what that is supposed to mean.

I of course think I'm correct in my opinions, otherwise they wouldn't be my opinions. That would be kind of dumb - to hold opinions I don't believe in...either dumb or incredibly cynical.

And, no, I don't hear myself type. :rolleye33: But I have spent time analyzing and synthesizing and have arrived at my own worldview in that way.

I didn't say that, since you are a self-described Liberal, you don't value hard work, etc. I said, in general, the Liberal worldview doesn't play well in the spaces of the world where folks toil physically and have to protect what they have earned. You obviously took that as a personal attack on you. Which is interesting.

Look at a county by county map that depicts party affiliation and you'll understand part of my point.

I haven't been excited about a Presidential candidate since I was old enough to vote. I'm not agreeing that they're all "lousy", but I do share your frustration - I'm not going to vote for a candidate as much as I'll be voting against the other candidates (actually, against their positions, to be technical about it).

poor attempt at humor, what i am questioning is do you think about what you are saying before you say it. what county are you talking about. I think their are more independants and liberals in this country than conservatives.

Definitely dont view it as a personal attack, but in your generalization, which include liberals, wow wonder where I got that from, could it be from your post:huh:

Also as I read your post, you definitely cant recognize sarcasim either. So that explains alot as well.

So you have analyzed and polled people to the point that you explained a liberal worldview in working class areas and the outcome was that they didnt agree with it? Thats what your post suggest. If you did, i didnt get the memo or questionaire.
