They sure did. The loss of Daniels was obvious on the first TD and the DB's fell for the pump on the second. The wheels simply fell off afterwards. Uninspired -of course after that start, but I don't feel they quit. Penalties definitely killed drives. We had penalties all year. Coach's fault - to some degree. Players fault - probably more so. But in this game we could not overcome them. I did not look at the replay looking at the set. The timing was perfect as to where the gunner may not have had time to relocate and reset. You can't be critical if you do not know what the blocking assignments were. The DB came in fast and it worked. Maybe a better scheme was for Jackson to throw a pass to the gunner who would have been wide open? The coaches may have coached, but the proper blocking secquence did not get executed. I do think the timing was perfect and the gunner was in a position where he could not move and reset. It also happens in professional during playoffs at the end of 16 game seasons. Holding happens every game, period. Sort of like block in the back on returns. If you play passing football, you will be called for holding. New safety on one side and Landry trying to do too much to help on the other. If Landry does not miss a sure tackle on the five, Shockley does not score. Did we need a spy? I think we needed a better rush and better coverage. Again, what were their assignments. It changes from play to play. You, like myself got spoiled with the great (and I mean it) Saban blitzs. In this game we got pressure on Shockley at times and it usually resulted in an incomplete pass. Good recruiting class, one more year in the system, coach learning more about opponents, learning more about SEC, etc. Agree. Lets see what next year holds. Maybe more trust in Jimbo. Maybe Les has a better idea. I don't know - time will tell. 10 - 2 and we really don't know. Really. This is an 83% win / loss record. The top W/L record of modern era is tied, Bill Arnsparger and Nick Saban both at 75%. As a scientist this is simply not enough data points for valid statistics. Lets try the discussion of wins and losses later. As far as winning the big game. Florida was in a new system and Alabama injured. But we prevailed - Auburn was a neat victory. So we can win some big games and some close ones. We just cannot conclude the future of Les with the data we have.
Well, I said I wasn't gonna post again, but here I am. I agree with alot of what you say. I believe that's one of the biggest problems with Miles is the fact that things aren't consistent and there is no confidence level because of that. But, you can't blame it all on the coaching staff. I can't imagine what the score or the outcome of some of the games could have been, had the players caught the balls thrown by JR. He would hit them right in the numbers, just like QB's are taught. I even heard somewhere that he was throwing "too hard". Then, all of sudden it seemed like he was putting that soft touch on it....this drove me crazy. We do have some problems, that is apparent. Hopefully, they will have the off-season to take care of this. I will never ever bash anyone remotely associated with the Tiger organization, because I have loved them for a very long time. The love for this organization is why we have such high standards and expectations. :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige :geauxtige
Dude you know how I know you don't have any point what so ever? You're cursing and trying to say that my vocabulary isn't extensive enough to undestand what you're trying to say, rather than adress issues. Sure, LSU won 10 games. I supported them in Atlanta, and I will support them in Atlanta again, and regardless of the outcome I'll have a great time again. How am I a cretin or a whiney ass crybaby? How am I immature? You my friend are the one that gets worked up over an internet discussion board, name calling and cursing like a sixth grader. All I asked is an explanation of why people like and defended Les Miles and I wanted your opinion especially as you seem to be the leader of the pack. Well with over 95 million internet forum posts or whatever it is you have. Thank you, but you made yourself clear. You're not capable of defending a position, or talking without getting upset over nothing and cursing. And I'M the immature one.
I don't remember anybody proclaiming Miles greatness. Just a lot of people saying that it is way too soon to judge. Wait-and-see is a prudent postition right now. No coach can be judged worthless in a single year--especially a coach with an overall winning record and an 83% record at LSU. If he doesn't work out, we'll go and get another coach. Meanwhile, he's our coach and so far we are winning. Nobody is going to fire Les Miles in less than three years when he is winning.
I said that he's going to be great here. I still say it. Les Miles will have the, or close to the, highest winning percentage ever by a coach (for atleast a whole season) at LSU. :thumb:
Ole Cholly Mac had a W/L percent less the 70% while Les is on top the heap at 83%. As I said in another thread, this is simply not enough data points to make a statistical decision on W/L alone. I think if his results are similar to McClendon he won't make the end of his contract.
We went through three lame coaches last time before we found a keeper. Nick Sabans don't come along every day. Yes, I'd rather have a Charlie McClendon who averaged 9 wins a season and made LSU a perennial top-10 team rather than going through three or four more losing coaches trying to find another Nick. Les Miles could turn out to be another lame coach, but he ain't one yet. We could do a whole lot worse than Miles averaging 9 wins a season and keeping us a perennial top-10 team.
