Apparently, someone thinks enough of LSU to put them ahead of Ohio State in the AP Poll. You guys sweat the little stuff way too much ... winning cures everything!
I vacillate on the issue. Sometimes I get frustrated that there is little recognition, other times I like being disrespected (the better to show them up) and other times I read "songs of praise" and I get nervous. But you are correct. Win the games and the rest takes care of itself.
I usually don't care if we get respect nationally, because, like you said, winning takes care of that. It just really pisses me off when we not only beat a team none of the experts said we could beat, but we flat out "embarass" them as one of the ESPN announcers themselves said, and still get no respect. One things for sure though, if we take care of business as does Georgia, we'll get a chance to take it out on Trev Albert's beloved Georgia Bulldogs in the SECCG. If we could beat Georgia a second time, he would have to shut up about all that "The better team didn't win" BS. And if we can't beat Georgia a second time, we don't deserve the high ranking anyway.
Be patient ... I believe we will be getting all the national attention we can handle over the next couple of months and into next season. This is just the beginning of something we've never seen at LSU ... I honestly believe LSU will be mentioned in the same sentence as OU and Miami come August of 2004.
We can't forget about Ole Miss, they could be 0-9 and if they beat LSU then that makes their season. Look what happened in '01. I don't think that will happen this year though. I wish we wouldn't have lost to Florida though because we would be in the same position Ohio State was in last year without that loss, moving up slow and getting no respect. As you all know that game was chock full of recruits and they had to love what they were watching.
Maybe its due to their perception of AU Remember all of reasoning on this board regarding why LSU was superior to AU.....that AU was destroyed by USC and Killed by a weak GT team, and that Ark and UT were really not quality wins etc. Well, it turns out that LSU was superior to AU and Ark lost while UT barely hung on over Bama. Maybe the rest of the country feels the way that LSU does regarding AU and in turn is paying little attention to the win over AU. If AU had not lost one or both of their first two games, then LSU's victory would have really caught their attention in my opinion. I agree with the above posters that winning will take care of it for LSU. Racking up SEC wins will force the media to take notice of LSU. You guys have a great team. Dave
I can pretty much guarantee that if Ohio State would have played Michigan last weekend and beaten them like we had beaten AU, OSU would be #3 in the country right now.
