except for louisville, the stats tho show improvement. given the stagnation we have had with our offense, this alone is reason to give him the benefit of the doubt, imo. to see what he can do with the type of kids we can recruit. and if he can coach qb's that is a huge benefit that i think we have not had.

so it isnt the sexy hire. if it is solid and we dont have clashes on the offense, and an oc that is at odds in philosophy with the hc, then stability can be a lot more beneficial than sexy. i mean, crow was supposed to be a genius with "the playbook". look what that got us.

i see no reason to be jumping off the ledge over this. if i am wrong, serve me a helping of bird. until then, lets see how this shakes out. it may just be a solid hire.

As pointed out by Okie, his offenses continually improved. That is what we need. We have the athletes, which may have been something he didn’t have at previous stops, all we need is someone who can get the most out of them. As far as who he retains, I don’t think that anyone is leaving. This O staff is Miles staff, Miles handpicked all of them. I don’t think anyone coming in is going to have a say in that matter. They may down the road, but not for this upcoming season.

Good point. You can often get elite players if you run a different type of offense that appeals to a certain skill set. In this case we wouldn't be changing with the rest of the offenses, but just by keeping the status quo and letting the rest of our competitors change we carve out a niche for ourselves. I'll buy that.

Sounds like a good hire. I know some Auburn folks that wanted him if Malzahn had taken a head coaching gig.

I personally was hoping you'd take Tony Franklin. ;)

Some don't have to listen and they won't. There have been a few people on here calling this for weeks now. Remember it's who you know that allows you to know what you know. If some don't want to listen, then just don't share. That's my advice.

No one will ever hire him again as a head coach is what I mean.

And being OC at LSU is about as good a spot as you can be in the country (vs any other school).
