He's 45. He's not going anywhere else anytime soon. So the potential for long term stability and consistency in our offense is there, but it remains to be seen if he'll be successful. At least he's a QB coach.
Personally, I don't care who we hire as long as he and Miles are on the same page with their playcalling style. I'm tired of these "was this Miles or was this Crowton" type arguments. I'd be fine if Miles just hired a yes man and made the playcalling decisions himself. At least we wouldn't have this multiple personality crap going on anymore.
Wow. I do agree they should be on the same page. I think we're looking at more of a conventional pro-style offense. I can only hope this means that Mettenberger gets a fair shake in Spring ball to be our starting QB from the first snap of the season. Otherwise we may be looking at yet another clumsy offense with the OC and QB not meshing.
I know we are trying to line ourselves up for a NC run next year, but I'm encouraged by what it means long term if we move to a pro-style. It seems with college football going crazy with spread offenses, there's not as many choices for traditional pro-style quarterbacks to go to school and be successful. I would LOVE it if LSU became a destination for that type of quarterback.
