One reason I think he will stay for a good while is that he refers to Baton Rouge as his home. To say he is happy in Baton Rouge or that he likes Baton Rouge is one thing. To say Baton Rouge is his home has a lot more meaning I think. Anyone agree?

    I agree.

You're right. It is a subtle, yet important distinction.

    Thanks for bringing it up.

If Saban were thinking of moving to an NFL coaching job, but had not seen the job he wanted to take yet, he would be saying exactly what he is saying right now.

Saying you're happy at your college job, you love the college town/state, you love the weather, you love the people, etc etc is all what you'd expect a class act to say whether or not he is actively looking for an NFL job or wanting to stay for 15 years. You cannot read anything into what he says - his coaching is in such demand that he does not have to publicly say he is interested in order to be considered.

He gets the best of both worlds - say 100% the right things to make sure his fans, staff, and recruits think he will be here for a long time, yet still get to be considered for any and all coaching jobs in the NFL.

I'm not saying he's leaving, I'm not saying he isn't happy here, I'm just saying...um...what he's saying does not account for a whole lot with me. Many coaches have said similar things and then have moved on. I wish he'd be here for 20 years, but I'm not holding my breath because of his public statements. I'll just wait and watch and enjoy the meantime.

  6. Good points, I also dont like to listen to coach speak that much. But, I'd betcha he stays.

of course and i think most understand this. you cannot read anything he says one way or the other. actually, i'd lean the opposite of whatever you'd think he is saying. he is an excellent poker player and uses the media as the tools they are whether its tv, radio or newspaper hacks.

If he is interested at all in the NFL, this year isn't a bad year to toss your name around, which is what his agent does since its his job to.

bottom line, no worries til he makes a public statement whatever day he decides. Will wish him well either way.

Just think, most never thought he'd be here this long. ask the MSU faithful.

each day is just like a bonus. I'm forever grateful with each passing day...it only means we're that much better off because of it.
