That's no circus catch. That's a catch that any college receiver should make. I think we should start JaMarcus the rest of the year. He has to start sometime and the only way he will get much better is by playing in games and making mistakes. We will still be a top 15 team this year and next year will be the year of the Tigers!
But if not for Russell, we never would have made that last drive as far as we did. Look at Russell and Randall's passing stats. Russell has by far put up the more impressive passing stats. Also, compare Russell's stats thus far with Chris Leak's stats through his first 3 games. I think Russell is ready. Randall won't be here next year. Russell will be, and for 3 more years after that. If both QB's are so close to one another in terms of "convidence moving the offense", then why not give the nod to the player that will be here past this year rather than letting Randal run the offense and have to go through the same learning process next year with Russell again???
Actually it was way behind Early. I detailed this final play, frame for frame, last night on this board. I assume Russell made the correct read, however the ball was out of Early's range. He had to completely turn around to get a hand on it, which in turn tipped it to the DB who was coming up to make the hit. There was a small window to throw in, and Russell basically put it in that space . . . just a little too far inside. What is worse was that it was 3rd and 1, with 16 seconds left, he didn't need to throw it that quick at all. However, no use in 2nd guessing . . . it just didn't go our way. But like I posed yesterday, Russell was throwing the ball low and behind his WRs all day. How many passes ended up at the WR's feet? How many times did wide open WR have zero chance to get to the ball? Plenty. That stuff will come to Russell in time, I doubt the coaches ask Russell to throw all his passes that low.
the trouble with you is you actually watch football instead of just wanting to be jamarcus' lil bytch like half the posters here.
You need to watch it again DD because I did this morning and that would have been a VERY, VERY difficult catch to make as also pointed out by LSUfan.
I've also asked that if anyone out there has another angle, or better view of the play, to please share it with us. The pass was not perfect. That doesn't mean Russell sucks, it just means he made a poor pass. Of course that one play didn't lose us the game, but I can't lay all the blame on a freshman WR. Please, rewatch the game . . . you will be amazed at all the passes that land near the WR's feet. Of course Russell made some good throws and correct reads, so I'm not blaming him for the loss. It's football, not every throw is perfect and it is not always that easy to just lay blame with a few players. Last I checked football was still a team sport, ruled by teams who play a team style game. At least the programs that are within the elite year in and year out, are able to have regular players perform well within a system. They don't have to count on just one outstanding player or a gimmac system to win all the games for them. It does happen that way, but those teams don't stick around at the top very long.
both QB's look rushed and " not relaxed" under center. Our O line needs to step up and live up to the hype they were touted for. i saw them gettin beat on alot of plays, and they weren't Defensive Stunt plays. I think BOTH QB's would do a MUCH better job if some holes were opened up for the RB's. This in turn would bring the linebackers up and create some room for Bowe/ Green/ Davis to catch a few over the middle slants and crossing routes. SHORT passes easy to make, gets the QB's confidance up and also gets the ball in the hands of the PLAY MAKERS! The O line is the key. BTW I like the way you honestly WATCH the game without a set of sugar coated glasses.
Why don't you watch the game and quit swingin from jamarcus' nut sack for five minutes. You don't even KNOW my stance on the QB thing. Do you? I'm not for either one, I trust Coach Saban to make the right decision. I did second guess his decision about pulling Randall while he was doing good. Even he said that at the half, in so many words. You NEVER pull a QB when he is doing good. Jamarcus is a diamond in the rough, no more no less. Try to be objective instead of being Jamarcus' whiney lil bytch boy, it's sickening top see a grown man grovel at a Red shirt freshman's feet like he was Joe Montana or some sh!t. :dis: :dis: :dis: :dis:
