That's a pretty bold statement. You sure you're not exaggerating a bit bc you just saw it? New Hope and Empire Strikes Back turned Star Wars into a phenomenon. Question is if Force Awakens came out first, would you predict Star Wars to become as big as it has gotten? Will this one be considered a classic 15 years from now?
I'm trying to look at it like this, if I saw them all today for the first time. Force Awakens would easily be the best one out of the bunch. Am I partial to the original ones, yes, my grandpa took me to see them, I have very fond memories of that, and those movies were a huge part of my childhood, I had all the toys, the falcon, the Death Star, Ewok village, AT AT's, all the characters, even had the Dr Vader carrying case to place the action figures in. Speeders, X wings, so I'm trying to look at it objectively and when I do that, this one is the best. But it wouldn't be as great without the original trilogy. Rarely has a movie lived up to the hype, this one did and then some I'm already ready for episode VIII
I agree wholeheartedly. Let my son skip school today so we could see the first showing at an IMAX 3D theater. It's the first time I'd seen an IMAX movie and it was incredible! Especially because it was *that* movie. I'm ready for VIII too. It sucks that it's going to be so long in between shows. If it's already filmed and edited, it should be released as soon as possible after VII starts losing steam, so to speak. But judging from the record number of pre-sale tickets sold and the crowd I saw today, that could be a while. I plan on seeing it again, once it's been out for a while. I'm glad we went to the morning show because it wasn't that bad; especially since we got there early, but the line waiting to get in for the 2nd show almost looked like a line for a Disney ride. Fortunately, no one was in a costume.
