I think Kissinger was pre 25th Amendment, but you are right. Succession just passes over non natural born cabinet members.

Man, when I heard that John "Horse face" Kerry had a shot at being in Obama's cabinet, I couldn't help but laugh. This could turn out to be the cabinet of the Keystone Cops:

Obama should keep Condi Rice as S.O.S. Once removed from the hip of Bush, she would be loyal to Obama and she's already established the necessary connections to be effective and needs no OJT. Don't laugh. I'm serious.

Rice wants out of politics and plans to go back to professoring. She's kind of discredited by the Bush experience and never really got a major thing accomplished. Obama can do better.

You can't wish the last 8 years away. He ain't even out of office yet. Colin Powell may not even get a cabinet offer because of association with you-know-who.

I don't know about that but Emanuel's selection is going to be controversial.

Within the party he is a pit bull and ruthless. Not a horrible quality for COS but it says something about him.

This is one candidate that Emanuel hand picked for election over a well known local. She has been critical of Bush for lack of wounded veteran funding but is not anti the Iraq War. Makes you wonder why Emanuel would select her.
