indeed it was, although I have been told by a source close to the coach that he was going to make them run anyway and just used this as an excuse to justify it. He is more worried about conditioning than actual x's and o's right now. and to answer the other mini-debate about the FB, once Perrilloux gets back, I think the fullback position will be as dead as it has been in some time here. I think LSU will primarily use shotgun, single back and pistol sets with i-form and goalline sets only being used in short-yardage. Expect a lot of run-pass option plays, which I like, because if you execute those well, they should be damn-near impossible to completely stop.
Interesting thought, but I was thinking more about us not having three blocking tight ends in short yardage situations this year. That's where another fullback can compensate.
I loved this quote from Miles on the cancellation of practice Saturday: Short, sweet, and to the point. I enjoy his pressers more and more each time.
Why worried about conditioning? Hope not because they're slacking a little during stenghth and conditioning. I wouldn't think with Moffit that would be a problem. would it??
not at all. just with the same offense and the same defensive scheme and no true freshmen yet, they all sort of grasp the system. I was at the scrimmage today... Jared Mitchell looked like a mad-man.
Our team was VERY out of shape for the '04 season. I hope our guys stay hungry following THIS NC and don't get fat and lazy.
i assume a lot will be dictated by this summer's trials. his 10.02 qualified him for it. if he makes the team, i dont think there's a chance he plays fball. if he doesnt qualify, i dont know why he wouldnt. he'd know before july. would he miss any summer practice?
if he'd know by July, he'd miss very little, if any practice. and it really doesn't mean much to him, anyway, because he only has 10-12 base plays he has to know anyway. the only thing he is on the roster for is his speed, and he won't lose that by not practicing. All of the plays he is in for are virtually the same, just in different sets.
