Promote it on TV and Radio, sell tickets for $5 and have a halftime promotion to give away a car or a bass boat to some lucky fan if they can throw a football through a Tiger's mouth or something.
They could use that truck with the T Shirt shooting cannon they used for the Kingfish hockey games to shoot T Shirts into the crowd during time outs. Bring in a big name band to play before the game. Do a deal with McDonalds for a free Big Mac with your ticket stub.
Skip is always up for the $$$ and he's quite good at getting it. maybe we should email him and see what he thinks?
If you want to pack the house. Don't charge anything. If you can sell basketball tickets for $6 and baseball tickets for $1 then why can't you make it free admission for a spring game. Make sure you load up on concessions and you can make some money there.
Hey BengalB, Do any teams you know of really hype the spring game like a big time event like were talking about? It sure would be nice to do what you can to fill it up. I think just making it a night game, would be huge by itself.
I never heard of it but I don't know anything about what other teams do for their spring games. That dosen't mean it couldn't be done. Especially now coming off of winning the National Championship and everybody eager to see the new QBs in action.
I wouldn't do it for free becuase they would need to make something off of it to pay for the promotion costs and giveaways but at $5 for an adult ticket and a buck or two for a childs ticket nobody would be hurting in the pocketbook to buy a ticket. They could give free tickets to organizations like the Boy Scouts and others to bring in a lot of kids and still charge a low price to the general public. If there is a baseball game at the Box that day they could let people with a baseball ticket in with the ticket stub for free. They could make the spring game a huge event if they would even half try. The April 24th date of the spring game coincides with the Jazz Festival in New Orleans so there will be a lot of big time bands in the area. They could have a few of the lesser known bands who wouldn't charge much but who would be available for an extra gig set up in several of the parking lots and have a real big time band play in Tiger Stadium before the game.
