I mean. Think of the privacy laws alone Twitter and FB would be in the hook for if they are classified as a publisher.

Zuck wants no part of this battle and is telling Twitter to backdown. They are the smart ones.

sure, another role that is fine and they should be allowed. they are a private company. just like this website can ban me without consequence.

    No one disagrees.

The problem is they shouldn’t be given protection from liability when they break their own TOS.

Twitter has become a major disseminator of information. It would hamper anybody running for office not to use it while their opponents are.

Twitter is full of people tweeting billions of lies, conspiracy theories and half truths. Yet Twitter has chosen only Donald Trump to editorialize on all his tweets. That fact alone makes it a discriminatory action.

When you start acting like a publisher you become a publisher subject to different legal treatment than a platform.

ISIS was using Twitter to recruit yet none of their tweets had al disclaimer added to them.

Trump knows Dems support Tech regulation. My guess is Twitter stops being so political.

Or all political speech gets protected.

Imagine ATT not giving me cell service because I support Trump. I could sue and win that.

These “platforms” will soon be deemed essential. Better to nip this in the bud now.

Taken to its logical conclusion Twitter could add a message to everybody's tweets.

Girl to boyfriend: come back baby. I love you.

Twitter: ditch him honey. CNN says he is no good for you.

so your contention is that twitter should be held liable for things posted by third parties?
