So Shane what makes one part of the constitution any less valuable or important than the rest? How about we gut the 2nd amendment or the 5th? The emoluments clause was put in to prevent a federal official from using his office for profit or taking bribes therefore putting him under the influence of foreigners. If you don’t think that’s important then you’ve got problems.
No shit Sherlock. However he doesn’t have the power to make law or act in the place of Congress or the Supreme Court. Recent executive orders have been doing that. Obama certainly did and the SCOTUS slapped him down. Steyer just said he’d use EOs to regulate every day life. I believe Trump has also used EOs to excess. Regardless whoever uses them in excess is causing harm and leading to gross excess bordering on dictatorship.
Are you being deliberately obtuse or are you stupid? I didn’t accuse anyone of taking a bribe. I just said the emoluments clause included prohibited the taking of bribes
He took existing appropriations and changed how they were to be used. That’s against the law. He also used EOs to reverse EOs Obama illegally. In other words he wrote law which is the province of congress.
per wikipedia: the better question is this: Has SCOTUS ruled on trump EO's and if so, what was the outcome? Also, for fun here's the list of presidents that have used EO's and how many they issued: Table of U.S. presidents using executive orders President George Washington 8 John Adams 1 Thomas Jefferson 4 James Madison 1 James Monroe 1 John Quincy Adams 3 Andrew Jackson 12 Martin Van Buren 10 William Henry Harrison 0 John Tyler 17 James K. Because he didn't violate it you dolt!!!! Do you really think the Schift show would ignore a juicy bone like that? Think about it, they just put the entire nation through an impeachment where they had zero, not a single piece of quantifiable evidence, NOTHING but yet wait whats this over here in the corner, oh just a ground breaking violation by the POTUS but we aren't even going to mention that. You are a bigger fool than I thought if you think they would ignore something like that. Get DA Fuck right on outta here with this emoluments nonsense!
@Winston1 The Executive Order in and of itself is not illegal, unconstitutional, immoral, etc....they have to be judged individually. I acknowledge that you called out Obama for misuse of the EO, but your characterization of Trump's EOs as some type of leap towards dictatorship suggests you believe he's taken us into some dangerous areas no president has ever approached before, and it just ain't so. Hell, I'd suggest that FDR came as close as we'll ever see to Chancellor Palpatine restructuring America as the First Galactic Empire. Trump's not going anywhere near there.
