There are so many ways to EARN college tuition and expenses. Besides the armed service as @tirk notes, Peace Corps, Americorps are other government services where you can get college education funded by serving your country.
But really why don't they study and earn a scholarship. There are tens of thousands public and private scholarships available. You don't have to have. 4.0 or be a genius just be reasonably smart and ambitious....that is if they want a degree that prepares them for the real world and not some fell good lame ass degree.
Oh yes you and your children could work and save for it as so many do.
Don't wait for a government ride that's lazy and corruptive. Life is MUCH BETTER when you EARN it than when given.

If you really believe that the wretched cunt will give your son a free college education you must still believe in Santa Claus.

You completely misunderstood me. We have a college savings fund, but the question that Hillary was asking is would we have a problem paying higher taxes if college tuition would be lower

Then don't mortgage yourself to the gills. There are ways to get through college without burying yourself in debt. This is especially true with in state public schools. Get a degree that will earn a return. Like don't get a education diploma from Princeton.

I understood you but you are giving up freedom and control for supposed security. What bureaucracy is efficient??? Do you think they would spend and your money more wisely?
There is no quid pro quo here. You would pay more taxes for less. Look at Obamacare and so many other programs. Do you want Obamacare running your colleges?
You're listening to a sirens song my friend.
