To be fair, Spurriers record should be disgarded if the discussion regards UF pre-Spurrier. So before Spurrier arrived:

    Overall, LSU leads series 18-15-3

In Baton Rouge, LSU leads 10-9

    In Gainesville, LSU leads 8-6-3

EDIT: I initially included Zooks record as well. It should be disgarded also.

    Chip82,

I still think UGA kills UF. In no way did that upset win Saturday salvage our season. I think Vandy is the only guaranteed win left on our schedule. Ol' Granny Holtz may finally get his upset win against the Gators this year.

    Mobile,

Great point and I knew it would come up. But red55 made it seem as though Florida sucked before Spurrier ever arrived. The adjusted numbers are quite fair but still show Florida was never LSU's step child pre-Spurrier and was winning football games, even in Death Valley.

People can say Florida and Spurrier beat up on LSU and the rest of the SEC while he was there due to the SEC being down in the level of play. So what, did LSU and the rest of the SEC not beat up on Florida while they were down in the 50's, 70's, and 80's?

So neither team owns the other as so many like to say. There was an Auburn fan on here last night that had the stats backwards with LSU leading the overall win series.

I just wanted to tell all the Florida fans Congrats on the big win............I thought LSU's offense played aweful, but there was one play that could have really changed the outcome of the game. It was when Travis Daniels drop the INT and he would have walked in the endzone.................I think if LSU went up
14-0 ---tiger stadium would have been jumping. I do agree with Sovietgator the fans Sat. seemed really flat and unemotional..............Well, anyways lets get our heads on straight and win 5 more in a row!!!!!!!!!!

    LSUstudent,

Sure it feels good to be a Gator, win lose or draw. I still don't feel good about Zook and Zaun though. We chanted all through the game. I was just glad that we finally got ya'll back for 1997.

    You mean that 98, 99, 00, and 01 wasn't enough payback?

    kctiger,

You ruined our perfect season (With help from Spurrier and Doug Johnson) and our #1 ranking in 1997.

It wasn't proper payback until we could return the favor in kind, ruining your perfect season and #6 ranking this year was close enough.

LSU Fonte is right, that dropped INT likely could have changed the entire complexion of the game; we go up 14-0 and Leak goes into a shell. Another 'close but no cigar" play was UF's fumble at the 1, another step and the LSU player who recovered the fumble would have caught it and most likely scored. I'm looking forward to SC, hoping that this game was a wake up call that what Saban preaches is right.

The series records are interesting. I think that any negative perceptions that I may have had about UF stemmed from the late 70's when we were thought by many to be on a downhill slide with Cholly Mac. He still managed to spank the Gators his last three years.

In the 80's Florida had some good teams but also spent a lot of time on probation. That probably tainted some of Florida's wins from that era IMV.
