islstl: You are very welcome. The AP can't stand the fact that they don't have the say as in the past. Their vote is a protest in my opinion. I had an FSU fan tell me there is no way the AP will vote for LSU against a west coast team, if that west coast team wins. This was before any bowl game was played. He has been around for years and has seen it before. Below is a list of what I believe AP favorites in order. I believe if you had LSU and all these teams undefeated say 6-0 LSU would do well to be ranked #7. the AP is no more than a popularity contest now. Notre Dame USC Penn State Michigan Ohio State Nebraska
I cancelled my Sporting News Subscription and informed them DO NOT SEND THE REMAINDER of my subscription to my house.
My e-mail to Matt Hayes and "The Sporting News" Subj: Your duplicitous cover Date: 1/6/04 4:43:48 PM Central Standard Time To: [email protected] Matt, I know that you didn't have anything to do with the dual cover being published this week, and I have read your articles about LSU this year and you have always been fair to the Tigers. Please pass this on to the whomever made the decision to publish two different covers on this weeks issue. I find it reprehensible that you would discount what the Tigers did on the field this year. Since EVERYONE is proclaiming a split title, why do you say that USC is the "people's champion" Those sportswriters don't represent me. And how is it that only 48 writers that voted USC #1 can make that proclamation.
Cancel your subscription, if you have one, to Sporting News. I did, then got a new one to SI with the LSU package. TSN sucks anyways.
TSN's webpage had an advertisement for LSU national championship merchandise at the top of the page with the Tom Deadhead story just a few minutes ago....I kid you not. I thought maybe it was a rotating ad, but I refreshed serveral times and it's still there. They're just in it for the money.
