I actually read the first one, i am in the middle of the second one. However, our current president was a coke head and a drunk, but i guess that standard doesnt apply to GWB
Maybe you missed the parts in the first book where he aligns himself with the likes of the radicals and his support of socialist agendas.
Shane did you read the entire book and what context he was talking in? I dont think you did or understood. That is your opinion of socialist agendas, what I could call a socialist wouldnt be what you would call it.. Shane I think you are smart and by saying that, you really havent taken the time to fully educate yourself on him. Just your statement saying what has he done explains alot to me that you havent researched.
All excelent points LMM and exactly what I would expect to get from someone who supports him. Clap clap. Have I become a study of B.O. not in any way shape or form. Have I read either of the books cover to cover, no. Will I? Probably not. I do however know where he stands on health care, the military, the war in iraq (as troublesome as it is, it is what it is) and his plan for dealing with it is just unacceptable. I know his stance on border control or lack there of, and most importantly on income redistribution and the taxes that will come from my hard earned paycheck. I will submit that the other choices are not much better. McCain is a sham and I really hope he gets a real hot shot TRUE conservative to run as VP as he may not survive his first term (should he win). This is just a sad sad election and if you think we are in a barrel of crap now, wait until WHOEVER wins this debacle is done with their first term. Should be really interesting in 2012.
Shane, I'll definitely applaud you for seeing McCain for who he is. But you are right, you will get that from me because I am supporting it. However, me being a liberal on some issues doesnt mean I want terrorist in my country or harming my fellow citizens, I am totally against that. Was I against going to war with Iraq, you bet your ass I was, but now that we are there, we need to finish this in a way that we dont sacrifice our economy and spending limits which we already have. Do you remember when Regean was in office and how he left the economy in shambles, it was because his defense spending during the cold war. Which I happen to agree that it was necessary to bolster our defense during that time. But our economy suffered badly. See you cant have it both ways in that situation, either we are going to spend big on defense and the taxpayers pay for it or we dont spend big and you can cut taxes. I will concede the state of the economy is in part because of many factors, mainly one being that horrible NAFTA agreement, that has us in a huge trade defecit. I dont want them to raise my taxes at all, but not sharing the tax burden across the income spectrum fairly is what i dont agree with.
Shane, I know I am not here to change your mind or sway you into my view point, but I just want to educate you on some of the issues. When you said, what has he done, it kinda got to me. But the people who dont know, are the people that keep the rumors going about things regarding people, which is wrong, no matter what side you are on. Now lets get back to football:thumb:
We could go round and round on the tax issues and probably never get anywhere. The fair tax had some legs but doesn't look like it's going to even get a serious look. We already have the top wage earners paying the majority of the taxes yet somehow the ones that are paying a small or even NO %age of it still want MORE. I applaud you for seeing that we really have no choice but to finish this thing in Iraq the right way which is why I can't if for no other reason, get behind Obama. This NAFTA thing is horrible and if we would do something about these illegals (and not giving them amnesty and drivers licenses) I mean quit spending so much $$ on them it would not be a total fix but would be a step in the right direction. I can tell you that from being in Iraq, IMHO the #1 problem there is CORRUPTION within the Iraqi Police, Iraqi Military, and in ALL levels of govt. I've witnessed it first hand and should that get corrected somehow it will turn quickly there. When I say corruption, I mean the insurgency is holding positions in those agencies. Positions of power with the ways and means to affect policy, military operations and the like. Another story, another thread.
I applaud and thank you for your service in Iraq sincerely, my grandfather fought in WWII in the army and was on the beach at Normandy, also I have a few uncles they are Marines and one who is very high ranking in the Navy. So i definitely support the military. here is that picture I was talking about, you looking like my best friend. See the resemblence?
