well more accurately my point is that a thing is not actually stolen if it is copied, because the original still exists and no one is left without. if i snuck in your house and copies all your music you wouldnt even notice. pretty sure you would notice if i stole your music. i am sure you can understand the difference. you only pretend you cant.

neither of those statements are true. and we are not talking about me we are talking about the nature of intellectual property.

It is not me you are stealing from, it is from the artists. You can't be this foolish.

Of which you know almost nothing. I am immersed in it.

You know, It's a damn good thing we live in a world where this logic doesn't apply to medicine. Oh wait......

make a point instead of being rex. intellectual property with regard to medicine is actually pretty damn tricky. unlike music, medical research actually costs millions and millions. to steal it, to remove profit frmo it, would be to kill it. not like art.

The point was that it's pretty sad that we live in a world where money means more than everything else.

It is exactly like art. Ask any artist if he deserves to be paid for his work. Ask them if they can afford to be professional artists is they can't profit from their work. Killing intellectual property rights will kill intellectual property.

    what does that mean "deserve"?

i am an artist. i play guitar really bad and i sing terribly at drunken karaoke parties. i cals also draw stick figures. one time i sculpted a penguin in high school. do i deserve to be paid for being an artist? who decides? nobody will pay for my work? aww too bad for me.

you "deserve" to be paid when someone pays you.

i "deserve" to be paid to play guitar. i decided that. i know i am not "professional", but so what. i know people who are incredibly good at things that dont pay at all. i know a guy who can say sentences backwards really fast. pays nothing. does he deserve to be paid? why does the world have jobs for thousands and thousands of muscians and only a handful of trapeze artists? are those trapeze artists that are super good but not employed just "not deserving"? what does that even mean "deserving"? according to who? you?

so intellectual property did not exist before the laws?

also again, medical research is nothing like art. clinical trials and research and such costs millions. you cant do it without protection. and really you couild freely share the intellectual property of drugs, you just have to grant patents on actual manufacture and sale of the things.

if for instance, someone invented a home remedy, like chamomile tea and tabasco happens to cure glaucoma, you couldnt say "well thats protected IP and you cant tell anyone, you cant share that info" even though some person put work into developing it and figuring it out.
