are you surprised OU is paying Stoops so much to stay? OU tasted the bitterness of poor football for quite a while when Switzer left, and they are not a bunch of fans that accepts poor performances very well. It will truly have to be a sweet deal for Bobby Boy to leave OU. With that being said, wonder what OU will put on the table for Smoke?
I was here through the David McWilliams years and the John Mackovic years. These Texas folks were desparate for improvement. Most I talk to think Mack Brown hung the moon. Two criticisms you hear around here about Mack are (1) doesn't develop his players, and (2) can't win the big one. Can win, but not the big one. When they first gave him his big salary boost and contract extension, I wondered if they pulled the trigger too early. He's won the Rose Bowl but he's never won his conference, any conference. This year he's one injury away (QB Young) from burning at the stake. Like a previous poster, I'm really looking forward to seeing how OU reloads.
