I was told Stephen A Smith was tearing us a new one over this today. Didn't hear it for myself, though.
Then I guess we should expect a rant against USC for doing the same thing. Oh wait...it's ESCPN we're talking about...
Just saw it. Yeah he was pretty outspoken. I think I agree with nipping it early. Im sure their has to be more to this. Curious to know the coaches decision to offer this early. Im sure they understand how unusually early this is. Have we ever offered a kid this early? This is about the big picture. If the LSU's and USC's start this trend, everyone else is sure to follow right? We all know how the coverage of recruits has exploded and 7x7's competitions will be televised eventually. Seems inevitable. Younger kids can excel in 7x7 and they will become celebrity's even earlier. They will be exploited before they even start high school.
Nothing should be done about it because it doesn't matter. They cannot formally "commit" for 5 years or whatever, so who cares?
Doesn't matter if they can't formally commit. It's about about the courting, the pressure, and the exposure at too early of an age. Just seems like its already too much. Now it begins in junior high?
say it ain't so..... i couldn't even read it. I tore into Lane Kiffin's ass for doing this... embarrassing yes.
First off Stephen A. might be the biggest racist most biased reporter I've ever seen, he's trying way to hard to be the Jesse Jackson of the sports world....I can't even listen to a word he says. Secondly, this 4.6 14 year old animal was designed to play football under Daddy Miles, get a 6 on his Wonderlic test and that’s exactly what he’s gonna do. If this was some poindexter/math prodigy there’d be no problem signing him up for college courses and skipping high school entirely, so what’s the big deal? I could also be slightly biased to LSU....maybe
