My kids have the same tastes in music. But, for some reason my oldest daughter really like Latin pop.

(This is her favorite...not bad in my opinion.)

Awesome! My kids listen to my CDs as well and I've even taken them to a few concerts.

my oldest one listens to a wide variety of music.
some new stuff, some old, some pop-type, etc.
he'll listen to music if i play it, but usually he asks me to turn it down so he can hear the tv.

my youngster on the other hand can sit on my lap and listen to my entire playlist without complaining (although he likes to hear some songs 2-3 times before moving on to the next one). and he's pretty much been like that since before he could talk.
lil man loves music. he regularly asks me to add some of my songs to his mp3 player.

yeah, my godchild would listen to the Climb on continuous loop for what seemed like a decade (even though she's only 6).

that dam party in the USA song on the other hand is slightly worse than nails on a chalkboard. i even heard it in a gym full of guys playing basketball and working out.
my wife had it as one of her ringtones for a while. told her if she didn't change it, i was canceling her cell.

I never understood the parents who would complain about their kids listening to Disney or Barney songs in the car all the time. What? My kids listen to what I listen to in the car.

Now, occasionally, I do have to keep the radio on Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus or "Fireflies" now that they are a little older, but they still also like Linkin Park or Depeche Mode, as well. And my older daughter is really good at picking out lead singers voices; she can tell me in a second if it's Michael Jackson, Madonna, or Steve Perry.

As an adolescent female in their heydey, I simply cannot agree with you here. Simon was HOT in that Reflex video!

Ditto most of this (except the Depeche Mode part). Though my five year old still insists Hanna Montana sings the Taylor Swift songs when I quiz them about who the artists are. I have to listen to the radio in my car since I am too cheap to fix my CD player so we listen to a good bit of the modern stuff. In my wife's van though, my kids have been thoroughly indoctrinated with Kansas and Boston. My wife hits them with Seal, but it doesn't stick like Kansas. My rug rats go around singing many of the obscure Kansas tunes. Go listen to the more obscure stuff (Paradox or The Spider). Amazing artists.

What makes my skin crawl... anything by the Rolling Stones or Rod Stewart. Ick. I can't leave it on the radio for too long due to fear of violent projectile vomiting. I like my singers to sing. Not grate carrots with their vocal folds. But I am a singer, so I am a bit of a snob. I hate most music.
