Blanco only had 2000 National Guardsman on Standby when everyone knew that a
Category 5 storm was headed NO.
Everyone knew NO couldn't survive a direct hit in anything above a Category 3 storm.
We see just how well 2000 national guardsman did didn't we.

Anybody here want to defend her poor actions or a lack of please speak up?
Its obvious state officials are responsible for the chaos happening right after the storm
until the feds could get there to relieve state officials.

The Feds response was also too slow, its everyone's fault that the levees were never
fixed or upgraded along with the pre and post storm plans.
The evacuation pre and post plans were horrible, look at the long lines and how difficult for people to leave the city.
There is plenty of blame to go around here!

Its not like no one ever thought this would happen one day!

Texans seem to be much more prepared for this kind of thing and thats a shame!

Two Thousand troops isn't even enough to control things in the Superdome
when you have 10,000 in there.

    so sourdoughman,

how fast do you expect the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemines, St. Tammany, Terrebone, and others to evacuate?

do you think 24 hours could get everyone out? do you honestly think you'd be doing a better job with planning? and now, that you have Thousands of retards in New Orleans who did not heed the mandatory evacuation notice... i'm assuming you'd drive the troops right up to them in your tanks- right through the flooded streets?

Give the woman a break. She is the governor of Louisiana, and I will support her and her advisors' decisions. stop blaming someone who has inherited a position that could never be run perfectly.

    Whatever TigerBandMello,
Instead of attacking me and what I'll do why don't you defend her?
I'm not going to fall for that old trick!

    Give the woman a break?
What about all the people that stayed behind such as hospital, fire and police
personnel not to mention the mayor?

Let's give the true victims a break! :dis:

Oh, are the people I talk about in this post retarded also? :dis: :yelwink2:

Well said Saban Fan. I cringe every time Blanco is on TV. Some of the people on the street interviewed are more articulate than her. Our prayers are going out to everyone that's been impacted by the storm.

They vote. They just decide according to who is serving ribs and who is serving leg quarters on election day...

Yea she could have been better prepared. Hind sight is 20/20.
Just to clarify though New Orleans did NOT recieve a direct hit from a CAT 5 storm... the MISS Gulf Coast did... just west of Bay St. Louis. As bad as it is, NOLA would be much worse if it had been hit directly. All those looters and people being evacuated would be dead bodies floating. Consider that.

he said headed not hit. we know the plight of the MS people and it sucks. we're worried about them too. no need to keep pointing it out they were hit directly since we are in the same sunken boat.

    his point still stands.

and dead looters would be a good thing not bad.

yes dead looters would be a good thing. I haven't heard of any looters in Biloxi although I'm sure there are some.

keep pointing out? not quite sure what you mean there Tirkish... I was just pointing out a fact.

glad you're concerned. I still haven't heard from relatives in Belle Chase.

    have a great day.

I want to support the Governor. I'm assuming that she has access to many people who can advise her and help with the tough decisions. I'm not into Monday Morning Quarterbacking. She has an extremely tough job. I just want her to instill some confidence and her demeanor just isn't doing that.
