Flame bait? I don't "flame bait" anybody. I post criticisms of politicians, often in sarcastic style. "You're are all idiots" is a flame. I don't do that. "Bush is a scummy politician who lied to get us into war" is a topic for discussion. Anybody who objects to the adjective "scummy" in that context doesn't understand the gravity of war, and if somebody feels "flamed" by that then they are not focused on the issue. At any rate, I thank you for deleting what trash you do.
i do that sometimes. i like to call people idiots as a group, and then pretend i didnt mean it when talking to specific members of the group.
Simple question for you? Have you ever served in a war zone? Have you served in a period or war but not in the war zone?
I strenuously object to the adjective in that context, but I don't believe that someone like you can seriously tell a Viet Nam veteran that he doesn't understand the gravity of war. What flaming liberals like yourself will never understand is that war is sometimes necessary. It was, and is, in this case. I'm not going to argue with you because all you can see is that people die in war and you cannot accept that. Come back and spout your crap after you've enlisted and done your duty. Until then, on the subject of war, I strongly suggest that you just STFU.
You can strenuously object all you like... that doesn't change the fact that GW Bush is a politician who affects us all and should not be above strenuous criticism, including strenuous adjectives when they fit. Why the sudden loquaciousness, when you're usually only good for a quick insult at another poster? Your post is full of strawmen. Whoever told you that I don't see the benefit of war when it's legal, honest, and appropriate? And your objection that I should serve in the military before I have a right to protest is extremely odd coming from somebody who has defended the notion so many times on this board that chickenhawks don't have to serve to maintain their integrity. Now, why don't you do the board a favor, and stick to the issues instead of engaging in your usual childish attacks against other posters?
Personally, politics bores me right now. I guess its the offseason. But, coastal erosion fascinates me, and i think its where the Dems can make some inroads, in La. Bush shot down using oil monies to repair our coast, which makes me give him a huge black mark. Our coast is riddled with oil exploration canals that subject the entire La. marsh to tidle surges that are rapidly eroding the delicate marsh. Bad news for whole eco systems, our hurricane protection, and on and on. Saving the coast is centered on my radar screen, and will weigh heavily in future political crap.
There is a bit of scandal fatigue going through the population at the moment. This Bush Administration has pulled off so many outrageous and unconscionable deeds that people have become somewhat immune to the outrage. What? Not another one. Ho-hum. The Louisiana coast is an important story, by the way.
Come on now, you know the only reason you don't support this war is because Pres. Bush declared it. Hell, you don't even know what this war, or any other war, is about. All you can say is whatever you just read on some anti-Bush website. Twenty years from now, you'll look back on these days, and be embarrassed about your views and behavior. Once you have been out of school long enough to have your own opinions about the world, and not just those of some anti-American college professor, you may understand.
I'm 51 years old. I supported this war until I learned we were all lied to and it became obvious what Bush's true motives are. So you're incorrect on at least two counts. And maybe on a 3rd, because I don't know that I'm going to last another 20 years.
