I still think a smoke colored visor on Lee's helmet would have worked wonders in helping that kid not telegraph his throws. They say that the medical team wouldn't have been able to see his pupils without removing his helmet, but I bet that they could have made some type of snap on visor. And if you had another Matt Flynn type of "extra" time out for equipment failure...you'd have another option besides chinstrap.. I defend JL but I'm tellin' you that I died as much as anyone with all those pick 6's He ended up like a deer in the headlights with no confidence, but I still admire him for going back out there in the face of all those boos. He'll benefit by being a backup to JJ.
I have no eye deer. I saw on the Bama board that Alasipi saw him playing pick up basketball...and of course lent his advice to DB that he should not be doing that...:rolleye33: - In case you haven't noticed my location for the past year, I've either been in Dallas or friggin' OK...so kinda outta touch.
Thanks for the repsonse. Yeah, I figured you probably ahd other things going on. Guess I will ask CS. Thanks. Fwiw, he was on track to play a month or so ago.
It's hard to say what teams will look like this year. Looking at the very end of last year and what players graduated or were lost to the NFL, I think LSU and Ole Miss may battle it out. LSU looked so much better in their last two games (even though they lost to Arkansas) with JJ at QB. And we killed a very good GT team. If LaFell wouldn't have come back, I would say it would be a lot tougher for LSU. But since he did, LSU will have one of the best receivers in the SEC (who tied for 1st in TD receptions last year) to throw to. They will also have two RBs that averaged 5+ yards per carry coming back. Of course, Scott ran for close to 1,200 yards last year and was 1st in the SEC in rushing TDs. We lost Q. Johnson at FB who was very good. He could be a little difficult to replace because of his great blocking. Dickson at TE was second-team All SEC last year and he could break all the TE records at LSU in his final year. The OL should still be pretty good. So the O definitely has a lot of weapons with a running QB starting this year. He'll probably be able to use those weapons even better. I believe Trindon will be back and he should be really scary with a running QB in there as well. T. Toliver seems like he's ready for a big year and that will probably be one of the biggest things LSU needs (someone to help out LaFell). Chris Tolliver was highly touted and apparently played really good in the spring game so he could be in the mix too. Add R. Shepard and R. Randle into the mix and LSU's O could be really scary. Losing Colt David will probably hurt, but hopefully they'll get more TDs this year. On D, we have a new coordinator who had the #3 D in the nation with a bad team last year. We should be better just for having a new coordinator and scheme. It sounds like Chad Jones will get to do a lot more and play free safety this year. He can be a total difference maker when given the chance to play aggressive. We lost a couple of guys on the D-line, but none that I thought had stellar years last year (despite Tyson Jackson's high draft status). Alem looks to be pretty awesome this year and some young guys could really make an impact. The D will most likely get better and better as the season moves on. I imagine the scheme will be easier for the team to understand as opposed to last year. Bama lost many key components to their O. The RB Coffee was the catalyst on offense and he left early. He didn't get enough credit. He scored 10 TDs and ran for almost 1,400 yards. They've got Mark Ingram who was good last year and should be really good this year. He's fast at RB, but they'll definitely miss Coffee. They lost Andre Smith who got picked at #6 in the draft and opened up huge holes and protected the QB. They also lost their All-SEC center of a few years to the draft. It will be tough to replace all those guys at once. And then they lost JP Wilson. He might not have been the best QB, but he was experienced, pretty good and didn't make mistakes that killed the team. Starting a new QB with little to no significant experience is always really hard in the SEC (see us last year). They will have Julio Jones (who was about the best Freshman I've ever seen last year at WR). He came up huge in all their big games last year. But will they be able to get him the ball? Their D should still be pretty damn good, but I don't know if it can make up for all they lost on O. It will be extremely hard to approach last year's performance. Then again, I didn't think they could do it last year either. Miss. St. should be Miss. St. with a few new wrinkles. Auburn has Gene Chizik... Arkansas could be a surprise team if they fix some things because they have some real talent on offense. That leaves Ole Miss. They have Nutt, so that's usually a positive. Also, they have one of the best QBs in the SEC. They were really good at the end of last year. They lost a lot too though as far as impact players go. They lost Oher on the O-line and their best defensive player on the D-line (both went in the first round of the NFL draft). They also lost their #1 receiver and the guy with the best avg. per catch in the SEC at 20+ yds/catch. That will affect them pretty good. But they have their most explosive player coming back in Dexter McCluster who is awesome. They ran him out of that Wild Rebel that killed teams. I think their schedule is a little easier since they don't play Florida or Georgia (although if there was ever a year for us to beat Georgia @ Georgia, this is it). So they have a little bit of an edge going in to the season. Also, they get LSU at home. That will be really tough for LSU. They hate us and haven't beaten us in a while at home so they'll be ready. I do know one thing: I really want to beat the $hit out of Arkansas this year. And then I want us to take the Golden Boot, melt it down, form the most expensive golden grill ever and give it to Chad Jones so he can put it in his mouth when he goes to pitch next year making him the scariest pitcher in baseball history. I think some batters wouldn't come out of the dugout.
