Or be run out of Bama.......I wouldn't doubt there's a chance for that. But he'll be laughing at their azzes all the way out with the money he secures by then. :hihi:
His contract calls for a 2% cost of living increase each year that should take care of it. I'm trying to be funny but in reality if he performs as expected i'm sure the board would step up to the plate to keep him. If he fails he can do us all a a favor by taking another offer. I really think not to many schools want to get into a bidding war for a coach.
2000: 8-4 Peach Bowl Win 2001: 10-3 Sugar Bowl Win 2002: 8-5 Cotton Bowl Loss 2003: 13-1 Sugar Bowl Win (NC) 2004: 9-3 Capitol One Bowl Loss Don't know about you, but I only see one, maybe two seasons that would be "acceptable" to Alabama fans.
The contract was guaranteed, for when the Gumps get the death penalty. Gump, you ever heard the ole saying, once a cheater, always a cheater. So, what I am saying is, he made sure he gets paid, even if there is NO TEAM to coach. See how that works. :thumb:
Alabama fans would be perfectly happy with 2/5 seasons with SEC titles and 1/5 seasons with National titles. Trust me.
Guys i think you all have to reallize the quality of coaching weve had since Stallings left. Its been terrible. Trust me no one here is expecting him to win every game. Following a coach that went 6/7 the bar is not that high. Saban might bomb only time will tell. If he gets fired then his gain our loss. This is really nothing more than a bussiness deal. invest in coaching now for a future payback. Look what happened to the Sooners when the made Stoops the highest paid coach in the land. Their revenue went from like 35m to 67m 2years latter. Not a bad return on investment.
Im not trying to diminish Bama but a 6-6 season NEXT season is very realistic. I posted this before with the schedule and my predictions. Im sorry but your schedule next year is quite tough, and I just dont see you guys beating LSU, Florida State, Auburn, Georgia, Arkansas and Tennessee!!
The NCAA learned a serious lesson with the SMU death penalty. Mark it down their will NEVER be another death penalty. Besides would you not miss playing Bama every year? I would not wish the DP on anyone. Its much more exciting win or loose lining up against a strong rival each game. A strong competitive SEC is good for all of us. And hey drop the cheater stuff weve already done our time.
Your exactly right. I'm thinking 7/6. Some others are thinking 8/5. The point is its not really important what happens next year. were looking 2to4 years down the road.Winning records don"t mean anything. Its the championships that people remember.
