Anyone else notice all we do is line up in 4-3 or a nickle and just play as lined up? Little to no in game changes. Not sure if it is a good or bad thing. They were a little soft tonight late, but I think that had more to do with being caught off guard by the running QB and the score.
The defense will be more and more dominate as the year wears on. Still learning a new system. The pass rush will hit it's stride soon. We're not there yet. Defensive backfield is an embarassment of riches. LBs are as solid as we have had in the Miles era. We get back Mills and add better depth to the CB position. The ones forced into action due to his injury gaining valuable experience and probably a blessing in disguise given the fact we won't face a passing offense until the last 4 game stretch of the season. Adams is a special talent but a tad too undisciplined for my liking. Still he is the leader of the backfield and doing a great job.
Youth and technique. Getting off blocks on run and screen plays are lagging. This should improve over the next month, but 2 games in with late game folding on a fast paced attack is not a good sign. Games are coming where we are gonna need them in all 4 quarters.
We're fortunate not to play a great offense until the 8th game. Not sure what Bama will look like in the passing game by then. We know they will pound the rock, however. Our offenses may look identical by the time we play each other.
You have a new DC, no way there is "very little change" from his predecessor. It may look similar, but there is definitely still a significant enough learning curve to the way Steele wants to play defense over Chavis.
Chavis played a lot more nickel because our strength was the defensive backfield, hell probably still is.
I can't wait to see Tolliver continue to grow. He looks pretty good so far. Not much of a challenge today, though. Johnson was terrible throwing the ball today.
