Defensive Ends... 2007 Tyson Jackson 291 Ricky Jean-Francois 281 Kirston Pittman 252 2014 Jermauria Rasco 247 Danielle Hunter 240 Justin Maclin 240 Even the undersized guys from 2007 were bigger than this year's starters. Miles and Chavis like these undersized DEs that are great in pursuit but get mauled by a power run game. As good as Mingo and Montgomery were in 2013, they were still glorified 3-4 OLBs. Chavis' defensive is basically a 2-5-4 at best.
What is it with you and Welter? He doesn't make the lineup. Put it on the coaches, they're the ones putting him out there. Regardless of his natural ability, I've never seen him sloth around or take a play off. He's giving it his all. No Aaron Brooks smirks after he screws up. Give him a break. He's a kid who wanted to be a Tiger. If he's not SEC material, only the coaches are to blame for him being on the field. It's reasonable for fans to question personnel decisions but some LSU fans are making it personal against Welter. He's not to blame for the other 10 Tigers on defense stinking up the joint last night. I'll start worrying about Welter when the DL shows up for a game. This is all on the coaching staff, no one else.
Well then you're just not watching closely enough. He always "jogs" over to the play if it's away from him. That's unacceptable.
Sorry, but no one was complaining back in 2011 when arguably the greatest defense in the history of college football had 2 bookend DEs with the following measurables: Mingo 6'5" 240 lbs Montgomery 6'5" 260 lbs The problem with this defense is an undersized/unathletic interior and MLB. The middle is beyond soft.
How so? The focus part, yep, this was two weeks in a row that we came out very flat. No excuse for that in the conference opener against a team you know to be talented enough to beat you. But if "the team appeared to be tackling better but last night every one was whiffing and taking poor angles", how is it coaching when players fail to do what they previously demonstrated they know? Did the coaches work on sloppy tackling and poor angles this week?
Good God! I've never seen that before! This guy has to go. Even when the play goes away from him he fucks up. Nothing personal, you understand. There is just no jogging in football. A fool can see it. In fact, only a fool can see it.
And if he hustles across the field and piles on the tackle, he's getting there late and trying to steal someone else's glory.
