making some corrections..... Mississippi St: Wayne Madkin Ole Miss: Romero Miller, Eli Manning Auburn: Leard, Cobb, Campbell Alabama: Andrew Zow, Tyler Watts, Brodie Croyle Arkansas: Clint Stoerner, Mike Cherry, Zack Clark (both later transfered to Divison 2 schools) and Matt Jones Florida: Doug Johnson, Jesse Palmer, Brock Berlin, and Rex Grossman Georgia: Quincy Carter, Cory Phillips (who started one year before Greene got there) David Greene, and Shockley Kentucky: Bonner (who transfered to Voldosta st) Lorenzen, and Shane Boyd South Carolina: Phil Petty (good SEC quarterback but no NFL Talent) Vanderbilt: had the only one I can remember from that time is Greg Zolman Tennessee: Tee Martin, A.J Suggs(who transfered to Georgia Tech) and then Casey Clausen and of Course LSU had: Josh Booty, Craig Nall, and Rohan Davey at that time
roygu.... those points you made are very very valid, that is why he couldn't find a coaching job after he got fired, and had to settle to coach the Birmingham Bolts of the XFL (what a joke). Then Indiana got desperate for a coach after no one wanted to take that job (who can blame them when Randel El isn't there any more) so they hired Dinardo, I don't exactly know their final record but they couldn't have won more than a couple of games, and even at Indiana football is a second tier sport compared to basketball. My point to all of this is I wouldn't hire Gerry Dinardo to coach My son's PeeWee Team when he gets old enough to start playing.
i remember that years SEC QB situation....teams had nice young talent, but it was a down year. for florida Jesse Palmer had started most of the season and did decent....then later in the year (and sporadically inbetween) Grossman got the start....one of those two probably would have gotten the SEC 1st team, but Spurrier yanked the plug on that and said that "no one on our team deserves it"... at UT AJ Suggs had started most of the season (including against us) and wasnt doing all that great...Clausen came in and finished the late part of the season. no one at vandy big boy at kentucky started his entire freshman year...if you remember Dusty Boner was the QB the year before and was dang good...but Hal "porn star" Mumme decided that the fat freshamn could "spread the field" better than Boner..and gave him the nod...Dusty got pissed off and transferred to Valdosta State (rightfully so)....Lorenzen threw for a lot of yards, but had an unholy amount of INTs...and had some other freshman problems (along with being on a sucky team) UGA had a hurt Quincy who only started about 4-5 games..cant remember who the other guy was...nobody there south carolina...nobody bama started Zow..so..yeah..nobody ole miss had miller...so yeah...nobody msu - chris rock...nobody arkansas had...was it Storener??? bc he was pretty good yeah, its time for lunch so im just gonna stop there....
I don't think Booty sucked, but I do think he was a selfish player. When Booty audibled to a play that wasn't even in the playbook vs UAB in 2000, threw a INT that cost LSU the game, and then after the game tried to blame WR Jerel Myers for the mixup (when Saban did not allow for a audible in that situation, period, and Myers didn't even know what Booty was trying to do), he's lucky Rohan Davey got hurt during the Tennessee game the following week, because Booty's ass would have never seen the football field again that year. To Booty's credit, he made the most of his second chance after Davey got hurt: he became a smarter QB, and he earned back some (but not all) of the respect he'd lost with his teammates as that season went on. But after the Peach Bowl game vs Georgia Tech, Booty was back at it again, talking with the media about the "strange deal" during the Peach Bowl, after Davey completely outperformed him in the 2nd half. Booty was unable to say Davey had a better game than he did. Instead he talked about why the conditions were favorable for Davey's 2nd half performance. I see posters talking about how LSU fans have alienated the Booty's, and how LSU will never have a chance at John David? So what. Both Booty's alienated themselves at LSU because of their selfishness, and LSU doesn't need another one.
also... Berlin wont start for Miami next year. Crudup will....he was a talented QB that we recruited as well....he had LSU and Miami at the top of his list....but he's basically from Miami and chose the Canes.
Re: Alabama decision? He couldn't see the receiver??? If my memory is correct he was rolling right and looking right at the receiver's. I think there were 2 receivers wide open on the right side of the endzone. The Booty boys bring all this dislike on themselves with their complete self centered attitude and all their mistakes are the fault of others. They ARE NOT team players and I was glad when they left, they did LSU a favor.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed most of the Evangel players who go to college suck. They think they are hot shit and when they get there they can't handle the competition. That is why they all transfer. I hope LSU leaves all those spoiled punks alone. They ought to be ashamed not sending those kikds to LSU. For the ones who did go to LSU I apologize.
Products of the system For all the talent displayed by Evangel QBs none of them has made their mark on the college level John Curtis has been a JS dynasty for years but a very low percentage of their players have made it big time in college. All the Florida QBs looked great in college but were unable to perform at the next level. On the other hand Joe Montana is a product of the Bill Walsh system and look at what he did
