again, the world is not static. a strategy that was not good four years ago might be good now.

are you claiming that nothing has changed in 4 yers in iraq? thats seems a little crazy.

i dont think bush really cares about political things as much as you are portraying him.

bush is like the sourdoughman of politics. you donty always agree with him, and he isnt the best at saying exactly what he means, but ultimately he is right about lots of things and he is definitely sincere about what he is saying.

I can't really summon up much delight just because he finally is being forced by his own party into a policy change after years of marching blindly through the fog. Depending on how seriously he takes the proper steps, I could be happy, but I'm not holding my breath, he's bungled the job before.

Meanwhile I'm humming the "We told you so" song. Loudly.

And when it's all over history will still ask, "Why did this misadventure cost America a trillion dollars, 24,000 casualties, and most of its international prestige and authority . . . and who are the men responsible?

What are these changes in Iraq that you refer to? The insurgency started on day 1 and has progressed steadily ever since. The Iraqi government is as bumbling and non-committal as ever. There is still no electricity or water at pre-war levels, there is still no significant oil production. What exactly is the change in the Iraq situation that would cause this reversal? Steady deterioration on all fronts is not change. I suspect it has more to do with trying to salvage the elections.

    You can't be serious.

I think you may be right. Heaven help us.

Bingo. Very interesting time to say 'Hey, we're not the stubborn jackasses that we've been acting like for the past 3.5 years.' No one should be fooled.
Wow. That's all I can say.

Honest politician is a contradiction in terms.

thats true, by and large politicians are horrible people, and generally anyone who wants power over you or wants to control you in any way is an ass. the best politician would mostly only want to be elected in order to keep himself and others like him out of your life.

i think the unique thing about bush is that he isnt really interested in the same things other politicians are.

    Abe Lincoln.

I'm just amazed that someone who tries to portray himself as the ultimate 'caller-outer' of liars would say something so outlandish. But hey, partisanship can be blinding.

i meant a modern politician. you didnt name one because no matter who you say it will sound ridiculous, and it will be an easy target for me to be critical of. again, i would like to an example of a modern politician you think is more honest than bush.

yeah, i am a stooge for the stupid stupid republican party with their asinine god-loving and ridiculous moralizing. thats me, the blind partisan, always falling in line with the prevailing wisdom. religion, one of the most noteworthy characteristics of the republican party, i have singlehandedly made maybe more posts ridiculing than any other topic in the history of the board. partisan.
