Flott actually got passed on the depth chart by Ward. Those guys aren’t slot CBs, though. They are lanky guys who can run up and down the field. As bad as Vincent has looked this season, he can cover in the slot. Gotta cross our fingers for Vincent and get all our hands in the air on DL. .
You've missed other conversations where I've talked about the defensive approach I believe you'll see. What you're staying to me here... We're not seeing that approach.
I wonder what happened with the experiment of moving Fulton to the slot, so Ward/Flott could play outside? I guess it wasn't panning out.
I don't think that's particularly relevant. If it's not pressure with 4 or less the pressure gameplan is not going to work. Burrow, E, and Brady are all more than willing to take the open first read 5 yard throw every single down if it's there. I'm also just sick of hearing this gameplan. Florida fans said it (and are still saying it for that matter), Auburn fans said it, and now apparently Bama fans are saying it. Blitzes are not how you beat this LSU offense. Joe Burrow is not a QB who flusters with a d-lineman in his face. He was running for his life most of the Auburn game and he still had a 76% completion rate and over 300 yards. Please, blitz us. I would enjoy seeing LSU put up 50 on Bama, and blitzing us is a great way for that to happen. Also kind of a pointless discussion. Auburn showed how you beat LSU's offense. You play man, jam at the line, and make LSU beat you deep. Good luck having the personnel that would actually make this work, Auburn is the only team that we've played who has been able to get enough pressure to consistently take away the deep ball without blitzing and I don't think I've seen any of our receivers lose a 50/50 ball all year, but that's the formula.
