I have a high ranking uncle involved w/LSU athletics and he told me that Bass called the guys on the team and told them that he was sorry that he left and he wasn't ready and he should have stayed for one more year. It would have been nice to have Bass this year b/c he would have made a nice 6th man coming off the bench. Thank god he’s gone. I hate greedy selfish people. He should have stayed b/c he loves LSU not b/c LSU was just a springboard to go to the next level.

wow, i think youre harder to read than i often am. id be great if bb told the guys he regretted his move, but your "6th man" reference caught my attention.

I think we all know that these two will play in the NBA but they BOTH need at least 1 more year. And if they do takeoff then it's Brady’s fault for not selling an education and explaining how important it is to be a complete collage basketball player b/4 jumping to the next level and riding the pine. If LSU wins a national title this year then obviously they are ready but anything less then that should be enough to get these guys to come back.

I DOUBT that seriously! If they leave, it's their OWN fault for not listening--NOT because Brady didn't try "selling them".

C'mon, olVENICEdog, do you HONESTLY feel that a coach, who's "bread-n-butter" is made by coaching at the college level, will just let his players--the guys that pretty much hold his job in their hands--simply leave WITHOUT making sure they completely understand every aspect of their decision????

In the end, it's up to the player and there's NOTHING that a coach, fan, or teammate can say to get him to change his mind one way or the other.

without bass, tyrus thomas plays, with bass tyrus doesnt see the floor as much. Bass was an incredible player, but him being here or not being here isnt much of an issue, as they still need a legit point guard that can handle the ball and knock down an outside shot

I guess the fact that Bass had to go to take care of his family means nothing. what an a**hole for leaving. Taking care of your family. ovd you make the dumbest post out of anybody that has ever been on here. even worse then ramah, which is saying something.

This is kind of an interesting thread... largely b/c I'm a little unsure what to make of it...

First off, how can anyone say we'd be "better" off without Bass on this team? That's kind of like saying Duke would be "better off" without Reddick this year, or something like that. Bottomline is is we're good without Bass, we'd be BETTER with bass. If Bass was here, we'd have a more experienced scorer on the blocks and a leader on the court who could score in tight spots, takeover the game as he did when he was here. Yes, it means less PT for Tyrus and Darnell, but we'd be better not worse. I think maybe we win an extra two games in the non-conference... I think it's legit to say... "our younger players develop faster" without Bass, but heck if he was back, we'd be a top 20 team for sure right now, and Tyrus might not be projected as some next "Stro'" or something and there wouldn't be this kind of ridiculous talk about him going pro as a freshman.

I do agree that even if Bass's back our guard play is a weakness--and keeping us from being a final 4 team (I wouldn't put elite 8 our of reach tho'). Tack getting hurt ALSO affected this team, although I'd argue it affects us much less. D.Mitch and Ben Voogd are also coming into their own as PG, as D.Mitch's scoring and TOs are looking much better in the last few games. I still worry about an athletic team that can REALLY press, or a team with good big guards at both 1-2 positions in the tourney, but in the SEC I think D.Mitch, Temple and Voogd, is an adequate backcourt to go with our big men.

As for the why Bass left, why he shouldn't have left, all I can say is I DO agree he never should have left last year. He would have been a first rounder for sure after one more year, and I think the poster who said Bass "regretted" the decision is bolstered by the fact that when the Hornets played in the PMAC, I believe Bass visited with BBaby and said he missed the team and playing for the Tigers. I think in his heart, he feels he had to go b/c he felt he had accomplished what he could in college (SEC POY) and he wanted to make some $ for his family, but is second guessing it now.

So, as for Bbaby and Ttime draft talk, my prediction is the BBaby stays for sure for 1 more year, and Tyrus, if he's smart, does the same (although, I worry a little bit about Ttime buying all the hype and leaving early). And, no coach these days doesn't TRY to keep his good players from leaving. The coach doesn't "run" off the players, players just choose to "chase" the money. Every good college program these days has to deal with early losses to the NBA (Duke, Florida, Kentucky, NC, just to name a few?), and I'm sure there will be talk of it after this season. The real issue with Brady's teams, in the context of today's game dealing with the NBA, have actually been lack of talent balance and overall talent consistency. When Stro' left early we needed a good long time to recover, because Brady had still not recruited complete classes. You saw the same thing when Lloreda went down with an injury. When Bass left early there was less of a recovery period. I'd say if say Tyrus were to leave early, there'd be even less of a recovery period (I think you'd see Rolle would have improved over the next year and play solidly along side BBaby or Darnell who improved a little bit more). Bottomline, we're recruiting better overall classes and there's good talent there to pick up the slack. That's what you see premier college programs like Duke, UConn, etc. having to do year in and year out...

    Thank you!

We, as fans, can pretend we know what is going on with these guys, but rarely do. There are very few players that are as hardcore fans as we are. If they were, a lot of them would not even look at going to other schools. So, leaving LSU is not that big of a deal.

Also, it is not like they have been playing with their teamates their whole lives. Maybe they dont like each other? We can judge whether a guy should go pro based on how successful he will be...but to them, that is not the only factor.

he's not an ahole for leaving. its his right and he never lied about it (like CJ did for example), but it was stupid. the $$$ argument makes little sense. he's probably making $300 now, but a year later if he had developed his ball-handling and shot a bit he'd make $750-$1mil/yr. so over three years about $900 vs $2.5-$3 mil. i really hope he sticks and gets a good contract in 2 yrs, because making $100 in Turkey wont go as far as he might think.
