I want Bama to destroy Boise in the Sugar Bowl and for us to not have to play Bama again. If someone can point me in the right direction of who I need to root for for this to happen, I'm all for it. I think I root Oregon and Okie State.
Definitely Stanford. I want all those jackasses who scoffed at the LSU/bama game as being boring or not real football to see what "real football" does when it faces one of their golden-boy passing machines. I mean, the SEC has done this year-in and year-out over the decade, but I always like to remind them. I like to expose their high-flying offenses as illusions, and merely a byproduct of a talented passer facing awful, awful defenses. And oh yeah, I don't want to play bama again. Not because I'm scared, but because we will have had to win our division and conference CG to get in. bama will not have earned it if they get in.
plus, a talking head had a good point yesterday. lsu in a seccg means we are playing one more week than bama. we have another game with the possibility of players getting injured, and just the physical exertion of one more game. bama, on the other hand, gets to sit at home and extra week to rest, rehab any injuries. in other words, bama gets rewarded with an ncg and an extra off week for losing. not much fair about that!
I'll dance around in a stupid-looking tree costume myself if it'll help Stanford win. We enjoy embarrassing Heisman trophy winners, so like someone said earlier, I'd love to face an undefeated Stanford with Heisman-winner Luck.
Like! Clearly you are of the sentiment that "revenge is a dish that is best served cold." The usual 'spoiler' team has nothing to win other than their pride; Bama has to watch their 2011 'spoiler' team march all the way to :crystal: :geauxtige
If Bama and LSU had played the exact same game with the exact same results, but in Tiger Stadium, the argument could be made that "the teams were so even, that only home field advantage allowed LSU to come out on top. Let's put them together on a neutral field and see how it comes out." But the fact that LSU went on the road and won ends the argument, IMO. And let's not forget that no matter how hard they try, there is no way to make the process of determining the BCS CG participants completely subjective. There are about 120 teams involved in the process, each with their own peculiarities for scheduling. The NFL, by comparison, ensures that every team plays the same number of home and away games, and has a process that at least attempts to make schedule strength as fair as possible. College football is a completely different animal. Even "strength of schedule" rankings are contrived. With that in mind, I have no problem with the idea of saying,"I don't care if the numbers say this team is one of the two best. They've already had a chance to prove they were number one, and failed. There are other teams deserving of a chance to prove it; let's send one of them."
Stanford and Okie State! We dont need any more help...we are #1 unless we lose to Arky and "IF" that happens...I beleive it is too late in the season to recover. 14-0 is what we should be shooting for and let the rest of the college world figure out who will come in 2nd place this year!
I agree with your post BUT,, not so fast my friend. Okie State has to play Texas Tech and Iowa State on the road not to mention Oklahoma. I am willing to bet they slip up in one of these games, they almost blew it last Saturday Night. Stanford also has some tough upcoming games. I am also pulling for Stanford and Okie St BUT I hope we get to play Mr. Heisman Andrew Luck, would love to see their offense vs our D!
I think you have swayed me. I originally wanted them all to lose. There would be something cool about being the only unbeaten team (I'm not counting Boise). But you are right. I don't want to play Bama again. Bring on the Cardinal or the Cowboys!
I would love to play the Ducks again in a NCG...so many of them believe we got luck the first time thus my desire for the rematch. Even though it is a long shot I think they can find a way into the NCG if they win out.
