And once you tell your ticket and don't go to the game, you will become a part of the CBS audience, driving the ratings.....
Brando was talking about this on his show this morning. I only caught the tail end of it but there's something about ESPN having 'prime time' rights over CBS and is why CBS only gets to broadcast the 1 prime time game in a regular season. Too bad they chose a crappy game.
i get the money factor. i get we are a top team and this is the sacrifice for it. i also get that night televised games do not get bad ratings. i also get that there is a tradition at lsu that was there during some great seasons, before the whole money whore thing came along. "it's halloween night and cannon blasts...." finding compromise is not an ugly thing. it doesnt have to be all or none. just one or two night games a year would go a long way. its about structuring contracts to meet everyone's needs, not just the money factor.
ESPN and ABC seem to monopolize the Saturday night football schedule. I notice that this Saturday, ABC is showing a Nascar race instead of football.
I'm pouting! Alright! I only get to make 1-2 LSU games a season and I was looking forward to a night game! I know money talks and the "price of being good"....I also think our players don't care if they play at 2:30pm or midnight! I like being back on campus all day, watching the early games on the portible TV until 5pm before making my way to see the band walk down the hill followed by the players and then on in to the stadium.... I'm being selfish and not ashamed to admit it. In a REALLY "lame" sort of way, it's how I grew up spending the afternoons with my family and I want that reproduced feeling every time I get to go back.
It looks like we will have two night games at Tiger Stadium this year...Western Kentucky and Northwestern. Nice. All SEC games at home are day games. When is the last time that happened? Too bad.
No joke I have heard rumors that with all the other games on that day the Western Kentucky game could be an 11:30AM kickoff on ESPNU.
Now that would make no sense at all. Why not just play at 11pm and go head to head with UNLV vs. New Mexico? Actually, that game is already listed for 7pm.
Is CBSEC trying to ERASE LSU's Unfair Advantage by eliminating 'Saturday Night in Death Valley?' The AD is now free to rent out DV on Saturday evenings to Girl Scout camporees, Tupperware Girl Toy parties and AA meetings. Well, as to the AA meetings...92,542 will be the attendance figure here in BR...
