Hey, isn't your job here to provide credible information from Bama? We can get unsubstantiated rumors anywhere.
Not sure if this has been posted - I didn't see it looking thru all the posts. http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007301220003 At least it clears up the Blackwell end of the story.
well that was my intention. simply trying to refute the claim its not our policy to yank schollies. certain other schools allow more visits after a recruit commits yet we clearly do not. its not the norm we yank schollies but thats because most all recruits honor their commitment. im thinking miles may keep luther just to piss off saban. cant say i wouldnt do the same. i love me some spite.
But other than that you like Saban and Bama right? Your SabanNation T-Shirt is in the mail right now. :thumb:
I like that theory as this is quite plausible judging from what Luther said. At this stage of the game, I suspect he wouldn't want to miss out on a last fun trip(with royal treatment) ,while he must have had some curiosity about the Bama program; however I doubt if he is ever that serious about them, and in his mind he is still LSU bound. That would also explain why he lied trying to keep it hush with his non official trip out there. The real issue now is whether Miles would stand for that, including some fans who are turned off by his immature actions. If the scholly gets pulled, that is the price he paid for misjudging the consequences of his actions.
It would be interesting to see what the effect of pulling a 'ship would do to other committed prospects. Does Miles make an example of Davis just to make sure the others stick? Or does he let it slide and go back on his policy? Slippery slope either way but it would be eye opening to see what would happen if Davis is told "no thanks".
That is simply not the case. It is all dependent on 1) the amount of draft picks you have, 2) the availability of the free agents in the market and 3) the salary cap. If you recall, when Saban joined the Dolphins they had serious problems with the salary cap...which in turn has a direct effect on #2. While you can take a young player in college and mold him to fit your philosophy in a year or two, you don't have that luxury in the NFL.  Hilarious!!! Precisely the reason I put the caveat in that sentence. I've only heard from one person (one I trust) who feels very good about the situation. Normally, before I post anything that I feel very comfortable about saying I'll wait till I've heard it from 4-5 legit sources. It's all being held very close to the vest right now...heck, I like it that way...just goes to fuel the passion that comes with recruiting season!!
