Yep. People are very quick to forgot that the team was very well-stock when he arrived, thanks to the almighty DiNardo. Nick didn't build the program up from nothing, like he would have you think (and like Bammers think...but shhhhhh....you'll ruin the honeymoon!). So I guess, then, ol' Gerry should be taking credit for the 2001 SEC Championship? I think it's only fair.
Perfectly stated, as this is actually what's at stake. Signing or losing Davis in and of itself will not sway our loaded defense but losing a well-known commit to NS, who most LSU fans now consider to be the devil, and to lose him in such an underhanded way, bodes ill for us. Fact is, Saban will have more clout than any other coach outside the state for our blue chip recruits and this will take a chunk out of our hide if it goes against us. And unfortunately, Davis is leading people to believe he is interested in going to Bama at this point. As a few posters mentioned in this thread earlier, it will depend on how our coaches handle it, but he is no longer "a lock".
i think the point you all are missing is you cant control if he goes there anyhow. I say miles takes control of the situation if he has set the rules already.
Sorry, because I didn't bother to touch on this point does not mean that I failed to recognize it. Of course we can't control visits. That is common sense. LSU is also loaded at most positions with very strong recruits and no, one recruit won't make a negative impact on us. That is fairly obvious to all of us fans. I merely agreed with CParso that this is a bad precedent for our recruiting in the future. Perhaps Miles can counter it, but blowing it off as if it means nothing (because we are so loaded with talent) could come back to bite us.
Remember the recruitment of Keiland Williams last year. It went on a week after the signing day. Miles was patient, USC made their pitch. Miles got his man. Les knows what he is doing. He's working on it right now and he has a great story to tell about LSU and his success the last two years, on the field and in the recruiting wars. I'll trust Les on this one.
not talking about controlling visits. you cant control if he commits to bama or oklahoma or anywhere else even after his verbal here. where else they go is not the issue. dude flat-out lied to LSU and the coaching staff from the get-go. not a good way to start a relationship with your coach. this is what i was referring to. you said losing a recruit to nick saban would set a bad precedent. we may lose him anyhow so thats beyond your control. if you set the rules and they agree to abide by them but dont, i say cya. unless its mcknight or someone else i prefer. the golden rule is the man with the gold makes the rules.
