I can't see the Packers hanging the franchise tag on him and having to pay him $14.5 million to be Rodgers backup.

Exactly. Alot of starting QBs don't even make that kind of jack, much less a backup.

They will franchise him in order to trade him, not to keep him.

he's good but do you think someone will really trade for him if he's due to make 16.45 million/year. No way. If they do that, they may not be able to trade him if he refuses to restructure.

Yes, no way they take the chance on no one willing to give up the picks and having to pay that much for a back up. Sometimes you just have to let good players walk with the salary cap.

On local radio down here, the word is that the Dolphins wish list is in this order:

    1) Peyton Manning (if healthy, obviously)
    2) Matt Flynn (Green Bay OC is now their head coach)
    3) RG III

I think they will end up with Matt Flynn and I think that is a perfect landing spot for him.

    Let's see.

Fat new multi-million dollar contract. check.
An OC that you know very well and using a system you already know very well. check.
Warm, beautiful climate with miles of blue water and beach. check.
Have to beat the honeys off with a stick. check.
