Well today I got my 4th snapper on the year. About an 8 lber. Sadly, three of the 4 have been given to me. I had a farmer call me today to go drink a beer at his camp. His wife works for me. Told me he had a turtle. Had another farmer who's land go on to set nets give me one last week. His was on the condition that I clean/cook it for him, and I will. The third was from a HS coach I'm friends with but was too small. I relocated it and it's out growing up to be a big boy. I set my 4 nets this evening. Hopefully I'll have at least one snapping turtle. I've caught right at 100 turtles so far, just not the right kind. I caught 69 in one spot right off the main hwy.
Oh gawd, no. Last thing I need is a sissy in my ear complaining about stickers, mud, mosquitoes, etc. ESPECIALLY since I had only 5 turtles, all red-ears. Going to go with some set lines tonight. Did catch a coon. Will post pic on snare thread.
Scratch all dat. Went pick up my hoop nets today. First one had 39 catfish and 21 turtles. (pics below). The smallest ones are on top but we had several nice ones. Course the small ones are the best eating when they're filleted and they were.
